2 Weeks - Order to Dealer
So all in all I was failry impressed with my order process - a total of 14 day from when I placed the order, to when it arrived at my dealer in central Mass.
I stopped in this afternoon to sign some paperwork, and snapped a few pics prior to it being prepped... My wife and I pic it up Friday afternoon. If anyone is looking for a good salesman in central mass (Wagner) PM me, I can recommened my guy, he did an excellent job. |
Keith...
Congrats on your new X5! It looks like we may have ordered the exact same one...is that black sapphire/beige/bamboo? I hope so because it's hot! I ordered mine about three weeks ago and it's in the "paint shop" now. Hope to have it within a few weeks. You're right...if a dealer has one in the pipeline, you can get it much quicker. Now I can't wait until mine gets here! |

IS that bird poop on it or mud? Quick tell them to get it cleaned!
Nice spec btw :) |
People pay way too much for cars in the UK. In the states only a dummy would pay list- and I've never heard of anyone paying over for an X5.

Please don't think I was disparaging the UK- I've spent lots of time there and know folks don't have much of a choice. But at least you have things like TVR, Fiats or other makes to choose from we never see- including Fords and Chevys (Vauxhalls) that are far superior to ours.
Unless cars are in extremely high demand (Honda's back in the 80's or a new Ferrari for example) virtually every car sold in the US is sold at a discount. While I suspect M3s and/or M5s sold for full list when first introduced that didn't last long. Lotus dealers tried charging over list when the Elise first came here but within a few months they were readily discounting. I think a new M3 runs around $70K and an M5 is around $90 to $100K. The fully loaded X5 4.8 we just ordered is a bit over $71K out the door- all taxes and fees included. |

I paid similar for my X5, around $70K - but there were options I left off like HUD, rear entertainmentm premium stereo... Cheers, KEF |
So its not just the x5 thats half the cost it is in the UK but pritty much every model. I guess UK import tax has a lot to do with it and also I think wages over here are higher. Ah well
|
my specfication X5 has cost me just over £49k that would be $98k in todays exchange! and thats the 3.0d se! the 4.8 wont see you much change of £60k here thats about $120k ... and that wouldnt really be fully loaded....
imagine an M3 for £35k ....damn id take two please! we do get ripped at every level! |

3.0d X5 basic, no Media or dynamic packs, € 80k, say $125,000, or £55k sterling :( |
