If it plays most, but not some....why not check the file extensions on the ones it doesnt play and compare them to the ones that dont play? You may find a conflict there.....

i did. The ones that dont play have .mp3 extensions but then again it might not be a native mp3 format file.

Also, are the non cd changer 07 pre wiered for the changer?
What i like is, the dvd can play audio files - what i dont like is you lose your map

If you rip MP3s on bad media you may have problems as well. Make sure you buy good media and burn slow...

Hopefully sony's made in Japan not China. There's a difference.

Very true.

Brand names mean very little and Sony does not always mean quality media. All the big names farm out their manufacturing to OEMs. The best media are from Taiyo Yuden (Japan) and Mitsubishi Chemical Corp or MCC (Japan). Fuji, TDK, and Sony use TY as an OEM but not always. Of the Taiwan manufacturers, Ritek is one of the better ones with CMC Magnetics being hit or miss. Lately I've noticed CMC media coming out of China with quality being no worse than the ones from Taiwan.

I've been lucky and have not had any issues with even bottom of the barrel Princo and Prodisc media.

Check your files names, sometimes unusual characters can cause issues.
