Just the top half I believe. I can't wait to get my car....hopefully it's mid-atlantic by now.

No, top opens automatically (by pressing on button on key). And closes at the touch of the button. When I picked up my new X5, CA at dealer accidently pressed button on key when removing the key from the car. Luckily, there was nothing behind us... I'm going to have be careful with this open function.

Bottom is manual open and close.

is it hard or 'possible' to manually open/close the trunk with your hand? or do you have to wait for the motors to do the opening/closing? and is it fast or a little slow/annoying?

Mineral Green looks so good :thumbup: . I waited for months before one of the dealers within driving distance from me finally had one in stock so that I could check it out in person. Finally one dealer did get one but I had to drive about 180 miles round trip to see it. It was well worth it because that color looks so good in person. I saw two more Mineral Greens at the BMW VDC in Oxnard. Yours looks better than the ones I have seen since you have better wheels.This will be the color we order for my wife when we finally get around to it.........with Saddle Brown interior.

Auto Tailgate Function
 

The auto tailgate function only opens or closes the top portion of the tailgate. The bottom is manual. If I recall correctly the CA who introduced the car indicated that the auto function will not work unless the bottom gate is closed (I will confirm this over the weekend).

The speed is about right. Probably takes about 5 seconds to fully open/close. I will try for a video this weekend if I get a chance.

The mineral green color tends more toward grey than green in most light. I like it, I have not seen another one like it in this area (most are grey, black or white.) I believe the color was introduced last summer so I am not sure how popular it has proven to be.

So far it has been great....everything seems to work as it should. It is a very comfortable car to drive and feels very solid on the road. I really like the comfort seats (I am a big guy....6'3", 260).
