How to keep the DVD playing on a 2008 X5

Group,

I have a 2008 X5 3.0si. It has the six disc DVD changer in the glovebox. At a stop, the DVD plays on the screen perfectly. As soon as the car begins to move, off goes the video.

Does anyone know a workaround to get the car to continue to display video while moving?

(Yes, I know this is against the law in some states, dangerous, et al).

Please advise,
Chris

Hi,

you can find the necessary interface "Tv in Fahrt" = tv in motion on ebay-Germany.

It´s a simple wire, plu&play. Not so easy because you have to find where to install, but then it´s only plugging.

Mine is, hopefully, in transit. Bought it last week.

Ciao

There are many vendors that make plug in modules that will do what you want. Do a search on eBay using terms like "video in motion" or " TV Free" along with "E70" or "BMW". I think the ones that are made for the E60, E63, and E90 work on the E70 as well, but ask the sellers to be sure.

Here's a couple of listings from eBay.de.

I am interested but my German is rusty. Where does it plug in? Is it a messy job? Anyone done it?

Hi, I understand they will be able to reply in English. Regarding installing, no idea, will see when mine arrives. In E53 spare wheel had to be removed and TV modul found to plug the wire, here probably itīs similar.

Hi,

OK, will try no to forget. First I have to find somebody who is willing to help me, or better, do the job, as I have two left hands.

The modul should arrive soon, payment was done last week and itīs a power seller, I trust everything works smoothly.

Best regards
Alex

I asked a German seller on ebay.de for the installation instructions yesterday and he asked for my email address. I sent that to him so I hope to have those instructions soon...
