Dealer said wait time is 2-3 weeks, delivery before Christmas (not that I celebrate christmas :)) !! They have some allocations for the December to fill. Will see, waiting for the build number...

Now the waiting comes (which I REALLY HAAAAAATE !)

Thanks to everyone for help and advice !

Sorry, but it is too long for me... I am very impatient and result-oriented :)

On the other side, for most of non-X BMWs it takes longer to get them in the US as they come from Germany... So, overall, we are at disadvantage here in the US... But then again, this is an X5 forum, so I feel your pain...

Congratulations and don't forget to post pictures.

so you're saying there are a lack of orders for December? Sounds good for those looking for deals, no?

AFAIK, it varies by the dealer. Each dealer has its own allotment to fullfil allocation-wise. Some are already filled it, some are not. I heard anywhere from 2 to 8 weeks from different dealers.

I got mine from the Morristown BMW in Morristown, NJ.

Also, nothing beats shopping for a new vehicle on a snowy Monday morning (yes, it snows here in NJ !), when you are the only customer knocking on their door at 9am, and the month-end and the year-end are just around the corner :) ! These places do lots of deals around christmas time, when it is a bonus-time on the Wall Street (and lots of Wall-streeters live around here); however, this year Wall Street will not be as generous as before, so many people are holding off, thus dealers want to deal in order not to loose their allocation quotas.

Again, just my opinions, and things could be different in LI and other NY-area places...

^ mind if I ask how much off MSRP you got?

I've sent you a PM.

Congrats! Wow, 2 - 3 weeks! I ordered my X5 3.0si (Space Gray/Black Nevada) last Wednesday and the dealer said it won't be in until January next year. :(

I'm in California, maybe that explains the longer wait time ...

So, first of all, I dont trust their "2-3 weeks"... I am being realistic of their willingness to tell me just about anything to earn my business. I would be pleasantly surprised if it will, in fact, take 2-3 weeks.

And yes, California takes longer because they need to be sent, most likely by rail, across the country.

I went thru a similar waiting period 3 years ago with the current ride - 05 Ody. People in CA had to wait, back then, much longer.

i placed my order just a little over a week ago...(i waited till after Nov 2nd to make sure i had the autotailgate option)

i have production number, VIN # and it's scheduled for build this week... i'm told two weeks from now and it should be getting delivered to dealer.... we'll see...

they must be kranking them out!! read somewhere online that the X5s were in large demands and they were building them in larger numbers per week compared to last year!!

not sure if that's a good thing!!

but it still looks like a good Christmas for me!!!

Great ! How many days did it take for you, once you had the production number, to learn the VIN # ? Are you using the BMW Owner's Circle to track it ?

drod 11-19-2007 08:36 PM

the owner's circle is always behind... i got prod # a few days after placing order...

VIN # popped up on owner's circle about a week after placing order...but it only said 'scheduled for production'

i called the hotline and was told it was a week 47 build... which is this week.. and it should take two weeks from that to dealer...

we'll see...

i already have a laundry list of add-ons that my dealer will install.. can't wait!

In my case, I was able to see the VIN # in oc.bmwusa.com two days after I placed my order. The dealer got me a copy of the order with the production number. Right now the status is still "Scheduled for Production".

2-3 weeks is great .. i had to wait for 4 months but then again , im in the middle east (6 weeks for shipping)

alexmish 12-07-2007 08:20 AM

Finally built !!!

So it has been built as of Wednesday, passed QA checks and now awaiting transportation

That came from calling the 800 number, voice response system (not a live operator), which means it is at least 1-3 days behind...

Looks like there is a chance to get it before the end of next week... Keeping my fingers crossed (please no snow storms in North East !!!! )

swesson 12-07-2007 09:10 AM

The waiting is hard, isn't it? We are all excited for you. Nothing quite like picking up a new car!:bounce:
