anyone purchase EXTENDED MAINTAINENCE for $2000?? or TIRE PROTECTION for $750???
 

My dealer is offering extended maintainence, for 100,000 miles or 6 years for $2000. Any thoughts? Good deal?

How about tire protection (i will have run flat 20" tires/wheels) for $750? This covers any issue with tires OR wheels and they claim even if tread is mostly used and gets a nail in it, they will replace tire completely free. thoughts?

I'd be surprised if anyone, especially the dealer, could beat http://www.warrantydirect.com ... they come highly rated and recommended. Don't know about tire protection though.

I don't think he is talking about the CPO from BMW, which is what Warranty Direct is matching (factory warranty coverage) he is talking about maintenance coverage.

- Yes, buy the BMW maintenance coverage. Figure this, a brake job from the dealer costs more the $1,000.00...and that is just the brakes which will be routine maintenance in the 50-100K mark not to mention everything else. Also the maintenance can be paid back to you if you sell the vehicle before the end of the maintenance warranty. I did this on my X5.

The wheel and tire coverage is a relatively good bet if you don't plan on after market wheels. Estimate that one OEM BMW rim and tire costs $500+ and the deal sounds pretty good.

Always read the fine print before buying -- I saw one wheel/tire insurance that looked rathe good, except the fine print said they would only replace a wheel and a tire once... subsequent incidents after the first one were not covered.

The only consideration on the Ext Maint. program is that it might
cost more at the end of your current maintenance expiration, or
might not even be offered then.

But, you are buying an oil change/insp II/brake job deal for far in
the future on a car you don't yet have or,have barely broken in...
my opin is to wait and see on the ext maint.
Hellsbells, you maybe driving something else in 2 or 3 years.
Time is on your side, imo.

Last but not least, do a search on your topics: there are pages and
pages of threads on your question. Search Tab can be your friend.

The wheel/tar deal(s) may really vary; I'd read the fineazz print
or take a Pasadena.

For the extended maintenance I would wait the original 4yr/50K is in its last few months and then decide - no point putting the money in BMW's pockets now. Who knows, you may want to change cars then anyway.

Tire/wheel protection seems like a good idea based on condition of Boston roads, the cost of those runflats/rims and difficulty in repairing - i'd have a very good read of the small print/exclusions first. Don't forget there is a big mark-up on these warranties at the dealership.
