Look what came in early...

Got the call from the dealer, and my wife's christmas present got here early. I am attaching a pic from my iPhone. I can't pick it up till Thursday, and then it is going from to my parent's house till Christmas when she gets it...More detailed pics later....

We have really been fortunate, and I got a really good deal selling my 4runner privately and $500 over invoice on the 4.8i.

So, I think she will like it...

I am afraid that the moment mine drives the X5, she would want a bimmer, too :) And a 3-series probably not going to cut it :)

jasonrhcastle 12-04-2007 11:16 AM

Dude, that is what happened to me...

After she drove it, she wouldn't consider anything else...

Michelle 12-04-2007 11:55 AM

Very noice!

rh71 12-04-2007 11:59 AM

We do pay half as much....

whoopy-do 12-04-2007 12:10 PM

lovely car by the way Jason, i bet you bitting at the bit to get it out for a spin, if shes driving that ..what are you driving?

jasonrhcastle 12-04-2007 12:20 PM

I can't wait to drive it. I test drove a 4.8 sport with 19's and I loved it. I have repeatedly told her we are waiting till April and going to order one then. I keep telling her "let's look at the Mercedes or Audi because they are cheaper", just so I can keep some disinformation going. She told me Saturday, after we stopped by the dealer "just to look" that she decided she wanted the X5 and that was it. So, I am VERY excited to see her expression.

I have a 2007 530i with m-sport, black interior, NAV/SAT/iPod/L7, cold weather, comfort seats, step, 166 series M wheels.

I will upgrade to a 550i sport early 2009.

whoopy-do 12-04-2007 12:29 PM

nice.....what u really want to do is get a really crappy car loan/demo and put it on the drive christmas day with a bow on it....then take a pic of her face :D

talking of bows are you going to bow it up ? ..how are you going to break it to her? key in a box? put it under the tree?

jasonrhcastle 12-04-2007 01:00 PM

I am going to get the dealership to put a big red bow in the back of the SAV and will put it on there Christmas day.

As far as giving it to her, I am going to park it in my mom and dad's garage
(we spend Christmas there) and will have her go to the garage for supplies (read beer and wine) and she will find it in there. Their garage is seperate from the house and you can either access it from a side door or through one of the main bays. I am going to have my dad lock and "lose" the key to the door and then open the main door for her to find the new X5 in the garage.

I think it will work well...

LeMansX5 12-04-2007 01:48 PM

Nice! I believe you have the plans set for capturing her reaction as well.

drod 12-04-2007 02:26 PM

sounds like a great idea!!! get pics.... or a video if possible!!

we'll be waiting!!!

Michelle 12-04-2007 02:43 PM

Very exciting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Definitely post pictures!!

jasonrhcastle 12-04-2007 03:12 PM

I don't know which is worse... Waiting for it to be built, or waiting to drive it now that it is here...

alexmish 12-04-2007 03:22 PM

get yourself busy with something else, or you will go bonkers ;)

the worst that could happen - dealer gets it on Friday, but does not have time to prep it until Monday - those are 3 loooooooooooong nights !

AzNMpower32 12-04-2007 04:39 PM

This is the problem with BMWs. Once you drive one, it's almost impossible to switch to anything else. And you will in all likelihood convice others to buy a BMW.

Another happy BMW Store client! Congratulations! You won't be disappointed!

Maybe we'll see you cruising around town? We're coming up on our 1yr. anniversary with ours and we didn't start seeing E70s around here until probably July but now there's rarely a day that goes by that I don't see one or a few! Welcome to the E70 family!

What is MSD's?

jasonrhcastle 12-12-2007 09:16 PM

They are multiple security deposits. You can place up to seven of them to buy down the money factor by .00007. The total reduction is .00049.

On top of what I posted above, I got the loyalty rate dropping the money factor another .00100. So, my payments dropped to around $835 monthly.

How did you get the loyalty rate???
I was searching for loyalty programs and havent found any that anyone could qualify for X5, is it something new in December?

jasonrhcastle 12-12-2007 10:26 PM

Yep, new as of 12/2 or 12/3. A reduction of .001 off of the money factor for any current and returning BMWFS customer.

So, with my MSD's and loyalty rate my MF went from .00270 to .00221 then to .00121. Pretty nice reduction overall...

jasonrhcastle 12-13-2007 09:10 PM

Well, I gave my wife her Christmas present today. A little background about it...

Yesterday she calls me at the office and tells me she received an interesting phone call that I should know about. Apparently, despite repeatedly reminding BMWNA, the dealer and the insurance company about NOT calling my wife, guess what BMWNA and the insurance company did....Yep, they called my home and talked to my wife about the 08 4.8 X5 that was just added to the policy.

She calls me, I tell her it was probably a mistake (yes, I know...bad wording choice).

So, now she was very suspect. I struggled about what to do. Should I go to a lot of effort still and try to hide it. Or do I give it to her and let her enjoy it. So, I took her to "the mall" today and we stopped at the dealer and I gave it to her. It had a big red bow on it. She was still surprised. She and I love it. I have some pics, and will post them later today.

trueX5er 12-13-2007 09:19 PM

damn Jason, sorry that happened, but it worked out in the end, right?
I would call BMWNA and insurance back. Give them your thoughts ;)

Good luck with the new X!!!

jasonrhcastle 12-13-2007 09:48 PM

Yeah, I called the insurance company yesterday. I was firm, yet tried to be understanding despite being VERY disappointed. I don't know what I am going to do. I have so much to be thankful for. Besides having the means to buy my wife the car she wants, having a successful job, and a new baby daughter....I survived some bad health earlier in the year.

So, all in all, I can't really complain. My wife is VERY happy with her ride. So, what can I do?

I will probably just let it go....

trueX5er 12-13-2007 11:03 PM

Yeah, I agree, just forget about it if you've called them.
Congrats on your daughter and glad to see that you are well!
take care,
True

alexmish 12-14-2007 12:13 AM

:iagree: :iagree:

Just enjoy it....
