It's a new feature in the E70. The X3 and X5 models lower the suspension slightly so that the step inside is not so high.

I hear the same thing. I have a third row seat and I thought that sound was coming from the self levelling suspension. Pretty similar to my old Land Rover DiscoII.

i have 3rd row but no sport package so do i still have self leveling?

It's the vacuum seal for freshness. :nanana:

The third row includes the self levelling suspension, does not matter if you have sport package or not.

I'm almost positive it's coming from the hydraulics of the SLS.

:slap: OK, here's my serious answer now...

On my 4.8i, there is NO sound of air being released. I checked from all four sides. All I hear is the locks unlatching.

Last week I spent a lot of time in the garage with my car detailing it.

I was surprised at the motorized noises that this thing actually does make, and for how long after you lock the car it carries on.

Literally, for HOURS after locking the car, once every 30-40 minutes I would hear a motor actuate for a few seconds.

It made me wonder about the batter drain faults, etc. that we sometimes read about here.

I believe my car makes the same noises, what it is exactly is up for debate.

Cheers,
Keith
