Question about ac/heater temp. display

Good morning everyone. I have a question about the temp display. When I turn either the driver or passenger side knob to adjust the temp I notice that the orange lighting fades away on the numbers as the temp number changes. Once I stop at the desired temp them the number is brightly displayed once again... anyone else experience this and can give your thoughts? Thank you in advance for your time :-)

That shouldn't be happening. This could be something the dealer can look at.

Wow... I was hoping you wouldn't say that as I just back from my x being at the dealer for over a week :-(
Thank you much for your reply.

On mine, the numbers don't fade away, but you can see that the changes in the numbers are not very fast (when turning the temp button), in other words : the display does not seem to be able to 'follow' the turns you make with the button.
But I don't mind :)

Did it have that problem before? I'm always afraid when dealers fix something and screw up something else.

Yes, that concerns me as well. To be honest with you, I don't remember if it did that before.

On a side note here, I posted elsewhere my whole situation about the windshield washer fluid and so on... well to replace the bottle they had to remove a tire.

Should it have been necessary to re-align the car after removing a tire and putting it back on? Thanks!

I had a question about the display as well, I have the OBC, and there is an icon on the right where the clock is displayed, and shows an antenna signal of some sort, is that my FM radio when it is on? because its also on when no radio is on. It looks like the Man talking icon on the steering wheel minus the man. I searched and read the manuals but no dice. Thanks.

That's likely the Bluetooth, and it shows how strong the cell phone signal is.

I had tried to pair a phone, but I don't think I have bluetooth, I guess I'll check again, I just got the X5 two weeks ago, and the dealer never mentioned it. So could there still be a signal for like BMW assist?

alexmish 01-14-2008 12:34 PM

The colder it gets, the slower they move... Normal for a LCD screen.

jpnut 01-14-2008 03:18 PM

No I meant the antenna signal, looks like a volume increase signal to the right of the clock?

JiAvW 01-14-2008 04:54 PM

He's talking about the original problem.

that is the cell strength signal. That is the only one that is displayed. The question is why would you have this if you havnt paired your phone.

Did you buy the Tech package?

jpnut 01-14-2008 05:15 PM

Hey I am pretty sure this didn;t have tech package, but the module wasnt in the trunk. I can go over to BMW figure this out. Thanks for the help.

X5FX 01-14-2008 05:38 PM

well I have to ask...did you steal it? :)
why dont you know what you bought?

btw- try posting a photo of what you are talking about

The owner of the car dealer sold it to me directly, and he didn't know much other than the feature that stood out. In fact, I think he sold me this after having it in his lot for like a week only cuz the dates on the title show a 3 week transfer. So i guess time for detailing, CPO, and other stuff it was showroom by the time I looked at it. i have a pic on my cell phone i will upload after I get back from Mars Volta concert tonite.

@ OP

Don't panic about the LCD, the very first day I took the car out on a very cold day I was almost freaking out about the display, but as alexmish said, once the car is warm (interior) the LCD will respond faster
