bmwusa.com changed

http://www.bmwusa.com/

They have made it look like the UK site now with the layout. Build your own is under maintenance still, but I like this a lot better.

UK's site with a nice build-your-own: http://www.bmw.co.uk/bmwuk/homepage/

Happened a couple days ago, IMO trying to look like MB.

Nah it had to have been late yesterday at the earliest cause I checked the site for an accessory one last time before heading to the dealer to put in my deposit yesterday afternoon.

Wagner 12-16-2007 05:16 PM

Well I know it was up yesterday or the day before as I was on the site too.

jimsaq 12-16-2007 05:41 PM

maybe they swapped it back just to trick rh71, then put the new one back once he'd gone

This will explain why there werent in a hurry to change info for 2008 X5 earlier, they were working on updating to new site.

On a side note, there are now drivers guides with video training on features and operation.
What doesnt really stick is that they only have up to 2007 and not for 2008, but in the technology for convinience and safety section when they describe parking brake, they show a video with Auto H button, Additionally in the Mobility section they describe that there are 2 keys and one more valet key.
I assume 2007's had valet key and they just recorded videos on an 08 model but didnt catch up with all 08 videos yet.

Ironically, the actual accessories page right now is very hard to navigate to...

Plus the menus still don't work in Opera. Compatibility testing is for the loss...

It's slow. The configurator is downright unusable.

jimsaq 12-17-2007 12:06 AM

:(

BYO is pain-fully-sl-owwwwwww

I just tried Build Your Own and it was NOT slow at all, maybe it wasn't working correctly when you guys tried it. It was laid out in a more clear fashion than before. All the packages on the same page, all the options on the next page, and accessories on the next. Also hovering over anything brings a pop-up description and sometimes a picture too. This is true for many of the accessories too (like the wheels). It was very quick to just check the boxes of packages, go to the next page check all the options and it was done. Honestly it couldn't have been quicker as when checking boxes the response was immediate and when going from page to page or changing colors it would take less than a second. It used to take longer for me with the old BYO with all the options and packages spread out through many pages and in a much less logical way.

trueX5er 12-18-2007 08:42 AM

yes its working better now

topgear66 12-19-2007 05:24 PM

The accessories are nice because you can see them on your car. It is slow and when changing colors or trying to navigate to interior, options, or accessories it freezes more than it doesnt. I like the overall new look.

rh71 12-19-2007 05:26 PM

I definitely like the accessories feature now. For the longest time I was debating whether the 19" sport wheels with aero kit would look good together. Everyone who had white either had the sport wheels with no aero or had the aero with 20" style 214s. But now I have my answer (even if it is after I put in the deposit) -see sig. If only there were fender flares on accessories too...
