BMW Dropping iDrive For Apple?

Rumor: BMW Dropping iDrive For Apple Compatibility?

http://gizmodo.com/assets/resources/...2/bmwapple.png
Autospies has a juicy rumor on BMW, iDrive, the iPod and an apparent dropping of one standard in favor of another. Their tipster tells them that BMW will drop the iDrive system—which has gotten not-so-fabulous reviews—in favor of an interface that they've collaborated with Apple on. It's unclear exactly what type of UI this would be, or whether it would allow the iPhone/iPod to dock into the car much like the Land Rover

Oh man, it would be cool if some of these hoaxes tangibly materialize. That's a lame design to even be true by the Jobs Standard.

They should call that site Auto Lies, not Auto Spies...

Oh dear...some people need to find something better to do with their lives. That's a phptp of the interior of the recent 1 series concept car with an apple control photshopped onto it.

The concept itself loks great....harks back to the days of the E30 M3. If it materialises I will be buying one.

Cool white stitching on the dash!

I saw this elsewhere... Definitely a chop to show what it "could" be like but atleast chop a car with iDrive and a screen.

Not a 1 series with Business CD :) hehe

They are probably working on a "revolution" version of the iDrive with the help of Apple......LOL!!! I actually would like to see that happen because Apple interfaces are amazing on their products (ie..Apple iphone....interface is simply amazing if not anything else.)

Now that you mention it, there was a 7 series that could be driven using a cell Nokia phone that had a touch screen like the iPhone. It was featured in "Tomorrow Never Dies" Pierce Brosnan was good supporting actor but the BMW was clearly the star.
