Comfort access issues

Anyone?

On several occasions I have not been able to unlock by touching the handle, locking seems to work fine. Are the contents of my pocketbook creating a force field the remote can not penetrate? Am I doing something stupid? It was raining so the handles were wet a few times. Could that affect the touch?

I have had nothing but problems with mine as well from day one. I have brought this up several times with service, but they seem to just blow it off and it usually works when the vehicke is at the dealer. Most of the time if the key is in my pocket it doesn't work. I have to physically be touching the key or shake it to wake the damn thing up. It is really irritating paying $1000.00 for this option and have it work 20% of the time. The dealer told me back in August that there was a "fix" coming out in the late fall for this type of issue. I haven't seen one yet. I am bringing my X in for the replacement of the Power Steering pump next week and I will add this to the list again.

Sorry you're having issues :( . I'm going to wait it out a bit and see what other gremlin rears its ugly head before I go to the dealer. I really don't want to be back there for every little thing. This is the second on the list so far after 500 miles. My other issue is a dancing object thing on my backup camera.

I remember another member here last week or so had their antenna (or some related component) replaced and it fixed his comfort access problems. Short of that, make sure your batteries in your keyfob are good.

Can't seem to find the thread...

I purposely ordered our X5 without the Comfort Access. Between my wife having problems with another brands' (Toyota) version of Comfort Access, and the dealer admitting that 'there had been a few issues', I left it off.

My wife must have some type electrical interference in her body. LOL. She can only wear mechanical wristwatches & anything with batteries near her dies quickly. So no Comfort Access for something she drives. :D

Am sorry that some of you are having issues with it. Call me old fashioned, but I'll stay with the traditional key fob to unlock & key for the ignition for the foreseeable future.

My works great, the only time I have issues is when I have my cell phone in the same pocket as my keys. If I keep my cell in one pocket and key in the other, it works perfectly every time.

btw- I noticed you said "touch" the handle...you need to grip the handle to unlock.

You "touch" the grooves on top to lock.

Mine seems to work fine, and I am glad I bought the feature. The only time it acts strangely, is when I wash the car. As soon as the water hits the door handles it starts to lock and then unlock the doors every time the water hits.

The manual tells you to leave the key inside the car (actually in the key slot) and this wont happen...try it, works great.

I usually drop it in the ashtray.

Funny, how the fob is "old-fashioned" already.
