some bad news, and my little rant (UPDATED)
its has been a good 6 and a half months since i booked and paid a deposit of 12.5k usd for my x5 which is for 175k usd.
at the time of booking, they said i would get my car by october. fine. then october rolled by and these guys tell me november, by my birthday on the 24th. fine. nothing in december. no phone calls about any status updates. i visit their showroom on the 12th of dec and they tell me that the ship was supposed to arrive on the 8th, but it will be arriving by the 14th/15th and i should get by car by new years eve. it never came. now it is the 5th day of january. i call up my german friend who works for bmw india and ask him to check on my car and he said that my car isn't even in india yet! i get so furious that i go to the dealership and they tell me the car did actually arrive on the 14th, but i still ask for my money back plus interest that would have accumulated on my money over those 6 months. actually now they are for sure that the car will get here by the 20th, so, if i don't get my car by the 21st, i will cancel my order. lets hope they deliver....if not, what other car do u reccomend?: q7 3.0d, ml 320 cdi, ml 350, cayenne s....i don't know if i can get a range rover here.. it just sucks that ive been waiting for over 6 months and i may have to cancel, and probably wait many more months for another car of my choice UPDATE: i got a call from my german friend. he says the car has been invoiced and will be leaving chennai (southern india) for delhi (the capital, northern india), where i live, so the car should be here by the 17th/18th.....i will post pics of the car when it comes! |
Wow, that does blow.
|
Wait more, you are almost there... Any other "decent" car you will want to get, might take just as long...
|
175k usd? damn things are different in asia. cancel the order, period. cars are cars nothing more. you are already pissed with the process, i dont think you are gonna be happy when it arrives either. just cancel it.

You have waited this long, may as well wait a little longer. Cancelling now and re-ordering only means another 6 month+ wait.
You have pointed out your concerns to the dealer and I would hold them accountable. I'm not sure if there's a way to check when they actually placed the order. They may very well not have any control over the import shipping timeframe. I would certainly expect a considerable discount, free servicing or some other form of compensation... |
A dealer fiend told me (note might only be valid for UK only) that always get a delivery date in writing from them. This way you have more substance in chasing them if they fail to deliever.
Just my tup pence worth.. |
mp3province: Sorry to hear your situation, but like a few have said, I would definitely hold off a little longer. From my experience.....
1. Test drove the Audi.....did not look back or give it second thought. 2. Mom owned the ML, then soon after was traded in for a Lexus GX. 3. Porsche.....outdated, wait for the next generation. 4. Dad owns a 2008 Range Rover Sport Supercharged and it has been in service more than he owned it (it is going back in service on 10JAN08), he is even thinking about trading it in for an X5 or X6. Good luck on your decision and let us know what happens. |
That's nuts!
What am I missing?
Why don't you fly to South Carolina; pick-up a new E70; drive it to Charleston, SC; put it in a container and ship it back to India? Then pocket $75,000? Or, just buy 2 while you're here for the same money you could have purchased them in India... :dunno: |
