Delivery of 3.0sd

This is to any members in the UK thinking of a 3.0sd. Anyone ordering now, when are you been quoted delivery? Best I can find is June / July. Just want to know if this is typical?

I first talked to my dealer about the SD in Jan 2007!

Mind you I couldn't order it back then, I just put my name on a list. Mine was built in Week 50 2007, and I should have it here by the end of Jan.

The problem seem sto be that BMW have placed a limit on the number of SD build slots. My Dealer told me that his allocation was based on 10% of his total X5's, so he had 3 SD's for Q1 2008 out of 30 X5 sales.

Now that BMW are announing the Twin Turbo diesel in the US market, I expect that that will put a lot of extra pressure on the supply of 35D engines.

June/July sounds about right to me. I picked mine up last month and I know my dealer had more orders than he had cars allocated for the first half of 2008. I believe that's right about only a limited % of X5's being SD's...I'd heard 15% but not a big difference. I think there are supply issues with the engine.

If you are after an M Sport I think there are a few of those around as demonstrators. My dealer had an M Sport SD in the showroom that I they were thinking of putting on the road as a demonstrator. It was Sapce Grey with a highish Spec...around £60k.

yep thats pretty good for a new order, dealer told me about july/august and im in the midlands, if you want one b4 this then ure best bet is an ex demo or dealer factory order, im sure they will have a few cancelations, but your going to have to put up with someone elses spec!

I am almost tempted to order an SD for delivery at the end of next year. The SD still hasn't had any specific press coverage in the UK (that I've seen) and with six months queues already I think residuals are going to be extremely strong. Might be able to run my a car for a year suffering little depreciation. I remember the E53 3.0d had year long queues for the first few years with almost no depreciation if you sold your car under a year old.
