Production Time - Paint Shop

Exactly how long does the car remain in the paint shop phase of production. When I called the BMW NA representative, I was told the car went into the paint shop on the 15th and would not be complete until the 21st. Based on previous posts, it appears once the car enters the paint shop, production is complete within a few days, not almost a week.

Could the representative be wrong? -- It was supposed to be complete on the 18th.
Also, isn't the factory closed the 21st for MLK Day? How can they complete a car on this day?

Thanks.

Theorectically, The paint only takes a day. However, There are other factors that effect the progress. It may not get painted right away. It may be in Queue waiting for the paint. Then there is paint prep and after paint, post paint checking and quality checks. All of these steps take time and your vehicle may not go straight through to finish. Be patient, you don't want a rushed paint job.

Mine was in the paint show for a week, too :) And then all of the sudden it was "done". Their system must be delayed.

I called 2 days ago and they said they had an update from the night before (1/14) that it was going to the paint shop. He also said it takes about a day. That's all the info he could possibly give me.

This is what I've experienced this week:

Tuesday: Paint Shop
Wednesday: Quality Check
Thursday: Released to Carrier

Now I have to wait for the carrier to be fully loaded with other vehicles and then take the long trip out west. Hopefully you both get yours next week.
