Low Battery & SOS Malfunction on new X5?

Hi All:

I've had my new X5 for almost 2 months (only 1,000 miles driven) and this morning the system tells me that I have a low battery and an SOS system malfunction. Anybody know what could be causing this? This happen to anybody else? I serached the boards and really couldn't find anything although battery problems seem to be frequent. Needless to say, I am a bit angry...

Thanks in advance!

Battery is indeed a weak item in the E70. I had mine also replaced last week (under warranty that is).

Hans, what was the reason for your replacement?

Cheers,

Cheers,

I had some issues with settings being lost when I wanted to open/start the car. Apperantly, the car has an intelligent power management system, and in case of a poor battery, it first shuts down not-needed things like welcome light, looses time and date settings, looses radio presets and so on. Then I once saw the low battery sign when I stopped the car.

Dealer replaced it and no issues since. There are so many electronics in these cars, that the batteries are coming way to short. They are still using the same batteries (power wise) compared to 10 years ago, so they almost 'must' fail pretty soon.
