I have it in my M6 and would not order it for the X5. Juts my my $.02

huh? why? i have it in my e70 and its the one thing i recommend as an absolute must buy. especially when using the nav, it is MUCH safer...why would you ever take your eyes off the road while driving if you dont have to?

For me it causes tunnel vision and I become object fixated on the HUD and not the objects in the foreground. If I look at the screen and back at the road, my eyes also dont tire as much on a long trip.

HUD is a must have on any car. I love how the NAV and HUD work together. :thumbup: Eyes are on the road, not the dash.

You must definitely order HUD!

There is one problem with the HUD
 

If you wear polarized sunglasses the display will completely disappear. POOF!
The glasses are doing what they were designed to do--reduce glare from reflections. But it's surprising that the image is totally gone--at least with the sunglasses I use (prescription). I would have expected a dimming but not total disappearance.

You're right. I don't see HUD at all with my polarized prescription sunglasses --- I have to go and order some new ones... I'd actually figured those dollars into my overall cost when I ordered HUD :)

I also like the HUD very much (especially for NAV) but be aware that it uses a special windsield (double layerd), so if you crack it you will be out $1,500 for repairs, vs some $3-400 without it.

you mean to replace it? Repairing cracks is not recommended for the special windshield.
