Auto tailgate and soft close ?

I ordered the soft close thinking it included auto tailgate only to see on a friends X5 that the softclose option does not seem to open and close the same as the photos I have seen of auto tailgate.

Any one else under the same misconseption, I wish I had known before, the vehicle is about to be built, I am not even sure the auto tailgate is available for South Africa.

Auto tailgate code 316, SoftClose 323, this is not the same option, you have to change it...

Thanks Janis..... It is sheduled for build this week any change may delay. That really was an option I wanted. When ordering there was only soft close and I assumed it was auto tailgate included. Auto tailgate was not an option when I placed in November. What a pity.

Just seen 316 is available on the new pricelist and not 323 softclose anymore:rolleyes:

In Latvian lists there is not code 316, too. I asked especially and they have made changes... I hope to pick up mine end of march...

do you think if build date is 02.02.08 I will still be able to change without delaying the order? Or should I not risk it, I have been waiting months for this, it is a replacement for the one I have now.

:( I think is too late... But in aftermarket autotailgate will be plus.

Get what you really want in my opinion. I know a few months wait is tough, but not having the car exactly the way you wanted is worse. I thought you could change anything in the system right before they actually start building. No harm in at least asking your dealer to try.

I personally found auto tailgate not worth the premium, primarily because you can not close it with keyfob nor from the inside. You must always be present at the gate when closing. If I were you, I would not change the order.

Well, the autotailgate is nice when your walking to the car with something....hit the fob and low and behold it opens. Not bad for the price.

HI, Have you ordered the 3.0d? If you have you may want to try delay your order because in South Africa the March build onwards gets the upgraded engine 173kw/520nm. FWIW.
Edit - Saw your previous post that it is a 3.0SD this is also getting an upgrade from March build to 210kw/580nm
