Hi guys~Finnaly i upgrade my X5 3.0~~~
Installed areo dynamic kit, BMW 20" 214 rims with Michellin tires and titanium grille kit.
I got 20" fender flares kit also but did not install yet.
My friends said look better now than installed flares kit. How are you guys think?

Aero kit $895 + $670 Paint with installation at BMW Collision center
Rims $1680 + $1228 tires with installation
Grille $130

Nice! In regards to fender flares, I get mixed reviews on that one too. Some say it looks nicer with and without, it is personal preference, but it looks nice the way it is. Are the wheels protruding in the front or the rear? If they are you may have to opt for the fender flares.

art4.8i 02-03-2008 06:24 PM

which michelins did you get?

rufusdedog 02-03-2008 06:56 PM

You have to love those wheels. Beautiful.

us_matrix 02-03-2008 07:58 PM

Very nice!

Did you buy it from Dealer? How much for the rims?

Thanks.

rh71 02-03-2008 09:12 PM

^ same question about the rims... how much and where from? I'm debating whether to do the same but never drive it in the snow (have another SUV already) because I don't want to have to change out tires every winter.

BTW, it does look like the rears protrude out a bit.

y5choi 02-03-2008 10:22 PM

are the tires runflats? I think the wider flares should be installed but looks really nice!

Front and Rear wheels total $1680 at Morristown BMW.

rh71 02-03-2008 11:52 PM

$3k for 214 tires+wheels is not too bad.

How much do you guys suppose nearly new style 212 19" tires+wheels would sell for?

kyhaynes 02-04-2008 12:30 PM

Nice mods to your 3.0si. I have the same mods on my 3.0si including the Michelin Latitude 's! I decided to add the flares on mine. (Personal Choice)

I am still undecided on the aero kit. My vision is to add the front piece of the aero kit and the rear M Sport bumper with painted moldings and flares. After that, I will add a aftermarket exhust. I am looking at Hartge but will wait to see the results from the Bastuck system.

franchesco82 02-04-2008 04:08 PM

Dose aero kit sold front and rear separately? I like M rear bumper too.
Please upload picture for me after you upgrade aero, M bumper and exhust.

Looks Nice, great wheel choice

since the tires are not runflats, do you feel any difference in ride characteristics?

I'd like to hear the answer to this too! I imagine it's better even though you have gone up in wheel size.

franchesco82 02-05-2008 01:25 PM

I rode 18" runflats before. My opinion, I feel regular tires more quiet and smoother than runflats.
but only problem is low pressure light comes on very often.
runflat has same problem???

Fredo 02-05-2008 02:59 PM

Have you re-set the tyre pressure monitor since fitting the new wheels and tyres? That could be the problem.

On my previous car (535d) I fitted regular tyres and ran them on the car for three years which did not cause any problems with the tyre pressure monitor.

flares are a must!

I don't understand why rivets not comes with flares kit..dang~

terrapinball 02-08-2008 08:40 PM

I agree..

$3k for the wheels and tires is great. I thought they cost a LOT more.

It is your retailer BMW who sold and installed Rims & tires ?

Yes, I purchased rims from BMW dealer but tires from discount tire shop.

terrapinball 02-10-2008 01:09 AM

How's the drive

Franchesco, how is the drive so far with the Latitude HPs? I was trying to compare these versus the Michelin Diamaris?

hawk570 02-24-2008 05:00 PM

Looks really nice. I just added the same wheels and tires and I am too thinking about the flares. I got the replica 214 wheels. They actually look better than the BMW 214's. Mine look exactly the same as OEM but have a polished front with painted inserts, vs the all painted OEM 214's. As for tires, I too went with michelins from tirerack. Total price including shipping and install, $2,050, and like I said, looks better than OEM and I saved about $1K.

did you guys also install TPM sensors on the 214 replicas??

i got a quote from blustar for 214 replicas w/Michelin Latitude Pros w/TPM sensors installed and shipped for $3k... otherwise it would be closer to your $2k...

rh71 02-25-2008 02:11 PM

^ for $3k you should just go with the dealer and get the real thing & RFTs (if you don't mind the ride quality/cost of replacement).

I'd also like to know if $2k included TPM install.

dr.jay 02-25-2008 04:28 PM

Awesome!!!

hawk570 02-25-2008 11:36 PM

Here is the break down:
Rims $750, Tires $1100, Mount and balance $100.
I used my TPM, but they are about $40 each if you want new ones.
dord, you can get a better deal elsewhere. Even if I had purchased new sensors, I would still be way under the 3K you were quoted, and my rims have a polished face with painted inserts, which makes them look a much better than the OEM 214. Let me know if you need some pictures.

Can you email or post the picture here of your Rims after installed on the X5? If you could give me the seller information.

Email: [email protected]

Thanks

Hawk I'd love to see pics of these replicas on your ride.

Also, how's the ride quality without RFTs? Big difference?

gipper 02-26-2008 04:45 PM

where did you get the grill? did you do it yourself or have someone else do it?

How on earth do I post pictures on this forum?
About the ride quality, not really a big difference. The new tires (michelins) are not RFT's, so they should be softer, but they are also a lower profile tire, so it pretty much rides the same. No improvement, but not any worse. Now, cornering, that's where you will see a big difference, much better.
I have some pictures. As soon as someone can tell me how to post them, I will do so.

us_matrix 02-26-2008 06:05 PM

There is a Manage Attachements button in the reply section.

Do you have the seller info or PM me?

Thanks.

CS6913 02-26-2008 06:21 PM

Franchesco82,

You chose Michelin Latitude but attention your back tyres do not respect any more the indication of load planned by BMW in 20 ".

Michelin Latitude 315 / 35 / R20 has an indication of load of 106 while BMW imposes to respect an indication of load of 110 with these dimensions....

mrbmwx5 02-26-2008 06:56 PM

nice MOD.now add the 4.8i exhaust
