Saddle Brown & Grill Questions
Perhaps someone can help me here with a couple questions (forgive me in advance... newbie here) about the Saddle Brown interior on US spec X5's as well as the front grills...
1. It seems that Saddle Brown in the only interior color that results in the lower portion of the doors and dashboard being black, as opposed to all of it matching the interior color (ie. if you order Sand, the lower portions would be in sand as well). Am I correct that this is the only color choice where it is only applied from the door pull up to the wood trim? 2. If you order Saddle Brown. the headliner would be grey UNLESS you also order the sport package resulting in the darker anthracite headliner (in effect making the interior closer to 2-tone as opposed to 3)... is this correct? 3. Is the Saddle Brown a Nappa or Nevada leather, or can you order it in either type? 4. On the 4.8i, are the kidney grills the titanium ones standard or is that part of another package? 5. On some pics, the lower mesh grills (below the kidney grills) are black, and in others, it's a lighter grey color... what determines that color? 6. Finally, on the BMW configurator, they list the running boards under options for $300, but then also list "aluminum" running boards under "accessories" for $565... are these two items the same or is there a difference? I apologize for all the questions, but I'm toying with the idea of replacing my e60 M5 with a new X5 4.8... as painful as that sounds, I do need more space, I love the look of the X5, and it would be more financially "responsible" (payment wise) over the M5 in light of the big "R" we're facing that no one wants to recognize LOL Thanks for the help in clearing up my questions. |
1) pic: http://www.rh71.com/pics/x5/pages/IMG_4276.html (maybe someone can answer if it's different with other interior colors).
2) As I understand it, yes - the black headliner is a result of the sport package only. 3) I have saddle brown nevada. The color is pretty new to US orders so if you really want it in nappa, I'd suggest you ask your dealer about this straight up. 4) Titanium grills are standard on the 4.8i 6) Running boards are $300 if you order it when you place your order. Otherwise, they cost $565 after, such as when you pick up your car but decide you want to put running boards on then. |

rh71... thanks for the help! I will admit it seems a bit odd that they would list the same item (the running boards) within the configurator under two sections at two different rates!
So at this point, the real question is... can we get the Saddle Brown in Nappa... something about that color just looks SO good in the X5... and I have the Merino leather in my M5, which I believe is a slight step up from the Nappa, and is just so nice... so I think I could handle Nappa, but Nevada might be a little bit of a "shock" in difference... once you get used to that smooth, soft leather, it's hard to go back LOL Ok, my last question... what do we think about a 4.8 with the sport package, aero kit, in space gray, running boards, 20" style 214, with the saddle brown interior? Is that interior going to be a bit odd with the gray color? (and yeah, I'm trying to get it as "sporty" as possible to soften the blow of coming from the M LOL) |

Unfortunately, I think Saddle Brown is available only in Nevada leather. That's the way it's priced (Nappa costs more IIRC), and that's the way it shows up on BMW Deutschland. Your assumption #2 is correct. Gray headliner is standard model, Anthracite is sport model.
Beige is the only color with a beige lower dash. Gray has a gray lower dash. Everything else is black. If you want to see it, go to the BMW UK or DE website and use their configurator. Theirs is far more detailed and will change the color of the dash/headliner correctly. Heck, if you add options, it'll add buttons on the dash too! :wow: |
You can not get the style 214 wheels without sport package, unless you order and pay for them (and their corresponding tires) seperate.
I have a X5 4.8i with Sand Beige and I love the contrast of the anthracite headliner. I was going to go with Saddle, but we really wanted the vent seats... I say, 1000%, get the sports package with the X5...Nice exterior features, and you get anthracite headliner and style 214s.... |
