$2500 BMW support until 2/29

Hi guys,

Am new to the forum but have owned many BMW's including my current 335i and wife's 328xi. Looking at an X5 and learned today from my dealer that BMW just came out with $2500 dealer support until 2/29. The catch is it has to be an X5 that is in stock and not marked sold or previously ordered for a customer and has to be delivered by the end of February.

Going to read old threads to help me solve my buy now vs. wait for the diesel, and 19" vs 20" (ride vs handling) issues. Please feel free to comment if you have time. Also, any regrets on how the X5 rides?

Cheers...

none. makes for a very comfortable road trip, and around town just fine.

they were kinda hard to come by in december on this end of 40, suprised there is a glut now.

3.0SD US version is gimped because of emissions standards. :(

20" wheels are great as long as you're not expecting it to perform in the snow. That's the only thing holding me back from it - I am unwilling to swap tires back and forth twice a year. The 19" sports look pretty decent in person so it's holding me over. And just the other day it performed like a champ in the snow.

I was waiting for the diesel and I'm glad I decided to buy now instead. What I'd be getting in November wasn't worth another ~ year's wait.

Thanks for the input. The diesel seems to have less than the power I was hoping for. I am considering just leasing it for three years to see what new engines and technologies come out. Don't want to be married to a vehicle that gets about 16 mpg.

I wouldn't drive much in the snow -trips up north for NFL games mostly. This is a travel wagon for me and my wife so probably wise to just get the 19's and have all weather capability without hassle.

Welcome to the board, first of all.

I see you're in the Charlotte area. Was this Hendrick BMW who told you that? Please keep me posted on how the process goes. I've been thinking about trading in m 330 for a new X5... this may help me along with my decision.

Good luck.

Juan

Info came from a good/reliable dealer in Cincy. Went to Hendrick in Hickory, the one in Charlotte is always crowded. Not much inventory so I couldn't drive the cars I wanted back to back-just 3.0 and no sports packs.

Still very conflicted re the mileage vs waiting for new engines.
