Hi First post., new 08 X5, harsh ride... shocks, lowering, etc. any suggestions
 

Hi, just purchased the titanium silver 4.8i 08 x5 but w/o sport package, therefore no edc.

The ride to me is a little harsh (running stock 18's), meaning i feel every little bump in the road, car (w/o sports package) does not absorbe the impact as well as I would like it.

Best example is for those who have driven or owned the 06/07 Range rovers - What a plush ride !!!

Was wondering what you can do to the car (aftermarket) to improve the ride quaility w/o sacrificing performance.

i have 3 piece forged 22's on order they should be on in 2 weeks... probably will worsen the ride even more but will look like Awesome with the aero kit already installed!

Anyways, i think i should have bought one with the sports package... or does it make a difference for those who have test drove both...

Anything I can do on a "non Sports package" X5 4.8 to improve ride quality (shocks, springs) and what was your experience before and after.

All I can say if you think the ride on 18"s is harsh then your 22"s will be 10X worse.

When i had the RR, i had changed out the stock 20's to 22's HRE forged wheels... my experience then was the 22's didn't ride anyworse, just noisier (wider tires) and worst gas mileage.

the x5 already rides what i call a little "harsh" and i don't expect it to get better with 22's. But hoping others out there maybe has experience doing other mods that could make it a little "better"..

did you get the sports package? does the edc make the ride smoother? or is it the same ride quality? just more performance oriented.

thanks i read that entire post and it really comes down to each individuals own interpretation of ride quality.

anyone put aftermarket springs on the car (like eibach or H&R)? any feedback out there. i know it lowers the car by 1.25 inch so there is less gap between tire and fenderwell for a better look with larger low profile tires...

In the US, the "Sports Package" also includes Adaptive Drive, which make a huge difference in the quality of the ride.

Did you test drive the vehicle before buying it?

i wanted a more comfortable ride with the x5 so i assumed by opting out of this option i would be getting the best ride. i had no idea nor did i take the time to test drive one with the sports package.

i've had sports cars (m5, m3, porsche turbo) where i would get sports packages, but for a family suv, i just wanted something with power and comfort...

oh well.

I am thinking of lowering the car now or doing something to it to make it look better with the 22's that are coming, but at the same time, hopefully find a product that can ehance not degrade ride quality whether it be springs, shocks, coilover, etc....

Ditching the run flats will improve the ride in my experience.

Trade it straight up for my 06 X5 and the problems will all go away..

yeah i've heard that about run flats. they will be off soon, so i will give you feedback once the 22's are on.
