Rebate this month, next month?

As we all know, the current $2,500 rebate is coming to an end this Friday, basically a couple days left to make a move.

That being said, how often does BMW offer incenties/rebates or special leasing prices for the X5.

That was the first time I've heard of any cashback since I've been a member of this board... May 2007. So it's pretty rare in my opinion. If you find one on the lot by Friday, grab it.

Thanks for the reply rh71.

BMW has told all their dealerships to distribute the extra $2,500 anywhere within a deal. It's quite funny to see how slimey salesman TRY and work the rebate to their advantage, lol. No harm though, it's their job to do so.

Nonetheless, my current lease ends in about 3 months, should I pull the trigger now, or simply hope the next 3 months brings another good rebate/incentive for the X5?

Any bmw employees or long-time owners willing to chime in?

Thanks.

When I lease my X5 in 2004 the deals kept getting better every month through July. Don't know if its the same now?

I think it is a dealer incentive, not a rebate, BMW does not genrally do rebates, feeling it cheapens their image.

The difference? A rebate must be passed along to the customer, a delaer incentive goes to the dealer and it is up to him as to how much he passes along.

Now, most dealers will pass the entire amount along, but it all depends on how you negotiate.

I study the incentives info on edmunds.com quite frequently and I think they do a pretty good job of getting all of them on their sites. I've never seen anthing recently for X5's. Is this a rebate, not dealer cash? Where did this info come from? I'm sure there are incentives given all the time to help a dealership move cars but I don't think BMW has ever had a problem moving X5, especially a nearly new model. Chances are lease deals(money factor rates being better or more negotiable as a model gets older) or the actual selling price will get better as the model gets older but with not that much profit in the car it would take a rebate or dealer cash to get a REAL good deal. I've not seen that with these cars in the past. But, with gas what it is, maybe the V8's?

It is/was dealer cash, not a rebate. BMW doesn't do rebates.

The referenced bulletin from BMW was called a "stimulus." It was designed to help encourage potential BMW customers that walked away in the past two months to come back for a much better opportunity to get into a vehicle. 3-series coupe/SW had $1500.. 5-series and X5s had $2500. It is neither a "rebate" or the traditional "incentives" offered to dealers. This was in response to BMWs awareness that Feb sales are down across the auto industry and wanted to do something to boost sales.
I took full advantage of it as my dealer forwarded the full $2500 to me, in addition to the sale at $500 over invoice, for a net of $2000 below invoice (we know this isnt really a true invoice).
For me, it worked out fantastic. My X5 3.0 is ABSOLUTELY loaded MSRP $67400. The lease came out to $835 per month 36 months/12k miles per year with front costs of $4308 (tax, title, Acq fee, first month).

For March, the stimulus has expired...however, the money factor on the lease has dropped from 0.00255 to 0.00210. If I had done the deal now in March, even with the lower MF, my lease payments would have gone up about $30 a month

I also took advantage of this "program". Bought X5 3.0 with MSRP $57,000 for $500 over invoice less $2,500. Not bad at all.

I just took delivery of an 2008 X5 4.8i with lots of options (sport, 20" wheels, tech, premium, cold wthr, rear climate, 3rd row seat, comfort access, auto tailgate). Total MSRP came to $68,675.

I was negotiating in January and ordered early February. I negotiated $4,250 off MSRP.

What do you think of the deal? I wasnt aware of the $2,500 dealer incentive......darn!

I'm really happy with the X5 (for the 4 days that I've owned it!), and I can't do anything about the price I paid now.....

I'm just looking for some feedback if it was a good deal (even withthe $2,500 incentive).

Thanks in advance.
