owners, what would you have liked to do differently?

If you had a chance to buy it again, what would you change about your order? Add something? Not order something?

The only thing I can think of is not buy the tech pkg because of the camera but it does help in the daytime and the nav/pdc otherwise are great. Maybe I would've bought them separately even though the difference is not much. That's it... I'm pretty satisfied with what I ordered... but I'm sure there are some who wish to change something...

drod 03-11-2008 08:26 PM

although I love the 3.0... I probably would have gotten the 4.8 for the extra power if I had to do it all over again... and because there isn't much of a difference in fuel consumption....

i would have also gotten the premium sound...

that's it... all my other options are great (not perfect) but i still would have gotten them...

cmyX6go 03-11-2008 08:38 PM

I might consider a different color combination, but not the options. I'm very happy with my choices.

Spring is almost here so maybe I'll start to feel the love part of the love/hate relationship of black ownership. So far it's been mostly hate. I picked her up Dec 8th and I haven't been able to keep her clean for 24 hours....:thud:

I might even consider tobacco interior with Black exterior. They had one on the lot but I chose black on black instead.

HaroldC 03-11-2008 08:54 PM

I love every option, especially the HUD and rear camera. While I don't always use it, it really helps because of the 'pathway and turning lines'.

The only option I would get is comfort access. I had it on my M5 and really got used to leaving the key in my bag or jacket pocket. But it's pretty minor, something that I can, and will, live without.

08WhtX5 03-11-2008 08:59 PM

Would have gotten the 20"s and maybe comfort access.

swesson 03-11-2008 09:17 PM

I wish I would have gotten HUD. I can't see the %$!# speedometer.

I know there's been a lot of debate on the topic, but I think I would get nappa instead of nevada leather. I have a black 4.8 e70 and got a beige interior. I think now that I should have gotten black.

That's it, though. Everything else is great and I would not give back any option.

deutsch100 03-11-2008 09:44 PM

I really wish I could have gotten Comfort Access. I had it in my last 2 cars, and it is awesome. The enter the key fob, then the push start/stop button is so stupid. Turning off and pushing the key in to remove is even worse. Honestly, a key, or smartkey like MBZ, would have been SO much better.

So, I guess Comfort Access is really all I miss. HUD wouldn't be bad either!

X5_2_OBX 03-11-2008 10:50 PM

Black Saph/Tobacco Nappa/Bamboo 4.8i here and wouldn't change the color combo for ANYTHING- I absolutely love it!

Might consider HUD although we always have such bad luck with chipping/cracking windshields which is why we didn't go with HUD to begin with.

Maybe think about HD radio instead of Satellite- there are only 3 or so Sirius channels that I even bother listening to anyway.

Otherwise, I'd keep everything else the same.

Denalio 03-11-2008 11:10 PM

I would of ordered the HVMS 60mm gun attachment for the roof rack, but they were on back order. Other than that I am pleased with everything else.

JBHorner 03-11-2008 11:31 PM

Comfort Access. I have it in my Prius, and love it. HD Radio as well, though I also like Sirius...so I'd keep that one.

Color combo is great for me. (Black/Black) I was worried about the black, and I swore I'd never buy a black vehicle. I have NO regrets whatsoever. On the X5, I think it is the best color. (A bit biased, yes. But also because the crazy black plastic is better hidden.)

I would get active steering.

Stevev 03-12-2008 12:06 PM

I would get a 4.8i, premium sound, and multi-contour seat.

bimmerfan 03-12-2008 12:37 PM

The only option I didn't get that I kinda wish I did is the auto tail gate. I have an E53 (until the end of the month anyway!) also and the tail gate on it is quite different. After using my new E70 for a couple of weeks the tail gate is different and I think in retrospect the auto tail gate would be a useful (and cheap!) option to have.

I might have also skipped getting the running boards... I didn't get the 20s and without them the running boards make my 19 inch wheels look kind of wimpy.

chonko 03-12-2008 01:12 PM

No regrets with my purchase, however I wish I would have been able to wait untill later this year to get the better engines.

Yes, I will probably be saying the same thing in 8 months. But at least it's 8 months.

Hey Bimmerfan,

I can honestly say that will all my options and packages, upgraded wheels/tires...that the Auto tail-gate is the feature I use the most, and am most happy to have (and it's so cheap compared to other features!)

The tailgate on the E53 was better, IMO. I had a 2004 X5 4.4i and a 2004 4.8is.

steel 03-12-2008 04:19 PM

No regrets with the 3.0si [Premium/Sports/Tech/Side Shades/USB Audio]. I just wish you could get the auto-tailgate as well as the 20" Y-spoke wheels (on the V6) as factory options in Canada.

Judyd 03-12-2008 10:17 PM

I'm very pleased with my choices: 08 3.0si, Monaco Blue Metallic, Tabacco Nappa Leather, Dark Burl Walnut, Packages: premium package, premium sound, tech, comfort seats, ipod, HUD, HD radio.

I don't think I really need any of the other options. The color and interior are really stunning looking. The premium sound is probably my favorite in that our 05 x5 didn't have that so I really appreciate the difference. The HUD is so helpful. The seats are like barkaloungers and are really comfortable. The backup camera is really helpful in seeing where you're going! Of course the ipod connector is so convenient. No more plugging the cassette in my tape player to connect to my speakers and I'm rid of all the wires. Still haven't had time to set up the AM/FM stations so have only listened a little to HD radio. At just over 500 miles, so far I'm delighted and very happy with my choices.

X5audi 03-12-2008 10:34 PM

I love the Deep Green / Beige Nappa / Bamboo color combo. It's very unique, and the green is gorgeous under light, so I wouldn't change that. In fact, I don't think I've seen another single Deep Green X5.

However, I would probably have waited for the 3.0d to come to the US, and we would've milked the RX330 for a little longer. The 4.8i is awesome, but it sucks a heinous amount of fuel, so the 3.0d would've been a welcome improvement--especially because it's not at all down on acceleration/passing power.

 What V6? I didn't know they made an X5 V6.

elvism 03-12-2008 10:42 PM

i think std sound system stinks. thought it would be better

wish i would have bought the premium sound system and comfort access but i didnt want to spend the money. would have made my monthly payment around $40-50 more.
