New Problem.....Self leveling Suspension

Hi All,

I was driving home yesterday and there was a bad speed bump and after that my rear right side is much lower than rear right side....to me it looks
like self leveling suspension problem.....Any idea...anyone had this kind
of problem.....I'm going to call the dealer today.

Thanks

I had te same problem at about the 500 mile mark. In my case, it was the left rear, and I had the car towed to the dealer. The problem was the spring retainer failed and the spring was dislodged. Not good!

Norcal...quick question

So is that cost covered under 50,000 mile warranty....also the towing cost...did they cover that or you have to pay.....

And how long it took to fix the problem

Looks like my problem is same like yours.....it's very rough ride now...

Thanks for your reply

I would imagine that BMW assist will cover your towing cost.

If the problem is just that spring unseated itself, it's only an hour or so of work. So they could have you in/out the same day.

I would just press the SOS button. Have them flatbed the car to the dealership.

Yep, mine was totally covered by warranty (I would hope so...car was 3 weeks old!) Dealer told me not to drive it and I called BMW assist for a flat bed. Don't know how long it really took to fix, as I was out of town for a week after it was towed, and the car was returned to me after I got home.

Good luck

I talked to dealer....he told to bring in....they are saying it's fine to drive to dealership...
it's 7 mile from my home.....

Update on my problem.

After i started again and drove for 2 miles ...everything started looking
normal...rear left and right side is of same height now....But i went to dealer to do a through check .

They called today and said it's software problem.....they will get the software patch today and will apply tomorrow...

Onething I don't understand is....if it's software problem....why they have to get a patch....i guess they should have that with them right ...???

They had the same issues on the previous gen X5s, my 06 still gets the warning every now and then, been to the dealer 3 times for it. Once it got the SW upgrade, the next time it was a leaking shock. Im really surprised they have not fixed on the e70s. I really do feel BMW does not give the X5 the same attention as they do their other models.

This weekend it did the same thing again....i was driving with 7 people...and it dropped the rear right side again. and the Idrive gave message "self level susepension malfunction".

I'm about to call the dealer...

100% US assembly....

RDC=Is the TPM system controller..

I just got new wheels today(BMW239)...and I noticed when I got back to the office, it had a slight driver's-side list....When I finally got home, it looked to have corrected itself....So I broke out the measuring tape, and it still has a slight list(>1/4")

The stupid thing, is I didn't realize it had any type of leveling function with the sports package...Or does it not? !ouch:

[edit]So far, there has not been any codes from Idrive...... yet...
