thats how our Euro style plates look like. Do you have something similiar in QLD?

Instead of the Swan symbol there was an option to have the BMW logo but apparently it was never very good so BMW stopped the manufacture of the plates with their logo.

I was going to have a BMW logo made out of vinyl and stick it over the top of the Swan but decided against it. Instead I have added an authentic EU oval sticker on the back of the car which I think looks nice and unique and I am wondering if it will catch on around here.

jimsaq 03-16-2008 09:20 AM

there's a couple of euro styles for qld:

Mi5 03-16-2008 09:22 AM

the bottom ones look better than WA's

jimsaq 03-16-2008 09:28 AM

I like em all, mainly for the reason that they're not the same boring old plates I've seen my entire life, as opposed to them being european style

X5audi 03-16-2008 12:46 PM

Yes, I love the lighting. It makes the interior look very dramatic. Beautiful color choice

dr.jay 03-16-2008 06:11 PM

Nice!!!

durnie 03-17-2008 05:46 AM

very noice colour combo

Mi5 03-17-2008 05:53 AM

I think Space Grey with Camel trim might end up being a very popular choice. Some weeks ago I saw a few buyers wandering around the dealership hoping to see a car with this combo to help them decide.

I wish i added the aero kit. I dont see alot of X5's with that on.

jimsaq 03-17-2008 05:59 AM

I think it can be retro-fitted

Mi5 03-17-2008 06:02 AM

yeah your right. I'll have to find out the cost.

jimsaq 03-17-2008 06:12 AM

if only the leather dash upgrade could be retro-fitted :)
I'd be signing up for that

deutsch100 03-17-2008 10:59 AM

Looks beautiful. You have the same silver/titanium front grill, that the 4.8i has, and also the 20 inch Y-spoke wheels. In the USA the 3.0 has a black grill, and the 20 inch wheels are not available for the 3.0si.

Wonder why Australia has that? Looks awesome!!

Bist du Schweizer?? Ich hab das 'CH' auf dem Wagon gesehen!!

Hans_ACS 03-17-2008 01:41 PM

Nice color combo!

Thanks!. The 3.0SD (twin turbo) models comes with the titanium grill as standard - to set it apart from the 3.0D (single turbo) model

The 20" Y spokes were an option and here in Australia you can order the 3.0si with these wheels aswell. On top of that there is nothing stopping anyone here with a 3.0D or 3.0si changing out their black grills for the titanium version.

If you took the 3.0SD badges off my car it will be identical in looks to a 4.8i Sports. I am guessing this is the reason why in the USA you can't option a 3.0si with the 20" wheels as they want to ensure product differentiation?.

At the end of the day no other X5 model even with titanium grille or 20" wheels will sound like your 4.8i - which I believe is very sweet especially on hard take off.

So you like the 'CH' sticker ? I'm not from Switzerland nor do I speak German but my European friend who is from Germany gave it to me because I like being 'different' - when it suits me  He didn't have the 'D' sticker which would have been better I suppose.

Thanks. When I first ordered the Camel leather I was worried it wouldn't be nice in real life - hard to choose from a small sample.

that was a smart choice.

Black Sapphire + Beige. I know it's typical, but what do you reckon?

jimsaq 04-09-2008 07:14 AM

if you like it, go for it!

Hi MI5 - great color combo. Like it very much! Would have gone for the same one, but am waiting for a little one to be given birth to... so maybe black interior is better for the next 3-5 years...
Very nice interior pictures as well! Perfect lighting IMO.

But... turning the "teachers modus" on......: Swiss (CH) is the only non-EU-country back here on "mainland" (if I might call it that)... they also DO NOT USE those types of number plates... I'm sorry... - no EU-Logo, no blue, nothing ... check this picture of the front of a swiss car...

Attention! Another "Teachers modus" on........;)

http://www.xoutpost.com/x5-e70-forum/...rown-pics.html

In this thread you see the other swiss plates of this very, very, very beautiful white x5 3.0 ds. :D :D . Ok, ok! I am part of the game: its my car! ;) Newbie is right, we are the only non EU-country in Europe, but we are in the heart of Europe. So, if you would like to be very different, the choice of the CH is the best. Bye the way, do you know what CH means? here the answer: Confoederatio Helvetica, it is the latin name of our country. I am sure, this knowledge would impress your neighbours and make you unique down under  !!

"Teachers modus" out!

Greetz from Switzerland
Gary

(Hallo Newbie, vor den MT-Talkern ist man wohl nirgends im WWW sicher ;) ! Herzliche Grüsse Gert)

 Hi Gert - got me... still a wonderful car - hope you didn't mind posting that pic... by the way: didn't know myself about the "CH" ... another lesson learned...
Have a great day! Greets from mainland-EU...
