4.8i Oil Cooler only on one side?

Can someone tell me what this part is behind the driver side fog lights (or right below it)? Is it an oil cooler? But the passenger side doesn't have it? What gives?

It's the oil cooler. And only one is necessary, it's actually a pretty decent sized one. You should see the one on my M3, now that is small.......

its a way to differentiate between a 3.0 and 4.8

a lot of ppl change the exhausts etc etc but that is the only way . ive caught about 5 x5s claiming to be 4.8 but they were 3.0

My 3.0SD has the same thing. It's on the right hand side ie drivers side.
