E70 Reversing Camera Retrofit?
Hi guys - first post here - returning to the fold after a year on the dark side (Range Rover Sport! http://www.x5drivers.co.uk/images/sm...n_sterb029.gif ) - previously had a 2002 E53 3.0i Sport - there weren't any E70's to be had when I was due to change!
I'm taking delivery of a good spec E70 3.0d M Sport, ex-demo, later in the week http://www.x5drivers.co.uk/images/sm...con_fest30.gif . The only toy I'd like that isn't there is the reversing camera. I know there are a few isues with the OEM camera in the dark, but don't want to fit a 3rd party option. Media pack is there, of course! I have seen the OEM camera at UK£265 in the E70 accessories catalogue and would like to know :- - If anyone has done a self-install (do I need to drill holes??) - If not, how much labour dealers charge to fit - Is the result the same as the factory option, with coloured overlays, etc.? Apologies if this has been asked before but I can't find it in a search! Cheers Jim |
I am planning to do the same, so curiuos for the replies here :)

Reversing camera retrofit kit P/N 66 21 0 417 969. Check one out at your local dealer. Ask them to see the instructions which should give you an idea of the complexity involved and will also state how many hours of labor is involved if installed by BMW.

Thanks - dealer posting me instructions - apparently I need an interface module as well (no TV but do have Pro Nav/Media Package on my car) and they quote 4 hours labour at £110 an hour plus VAT at 17.5%, including coding before and after install !!
Maybe I'll live with the PDC  |
