Anyone remove their front bumper yet?

So I ordered the 3.0 grill pieces (they're black) and painted new 3.0 chrome kidney surrounds matte black to complete the 'blackout' look. I've printed out the TIS for removing the bumper, but can't seem to release the portion of the bumper from the tabs that are holding it in. It seems like I'm going to break the tabs and possible the fenders as well.

I might just grow a set and tackle it again later this week.

btw - I installed the newly painted kidneys and top grille. It looks great, but the lower grille just stands out now.

I removed the bumper to install my radar detector. It takes a little finesse to release the tabs. Just be patient and work them out slowly especially the ones below the headlights. I found working from outside corners inward worked the best. I think it took me about 45 min. to get it off on my first attempt.

That's exactly the info I needed! Did you use any tools to release the tabs? Or did you just pull, wiggling the bumper?

Thanks!

Pulled and wiggled the bumper. When you get to the tabs try pressing down on the bumper a bit to try to pass the tabs and release them. The tabs are latch type, straight with an upper hook. Once they are released they are actually quite flimsy. Just take your time. With mine the one side was fairly easy, but the other side was a PIA. I thought maybe there was something I was missing, it just would not come off. I left it for 15 min. took a break then came back at it again. I didn't realy use any tools for fear of scratching the bumper. I did have a stiff plastic putty knife and some masking tape to wrap it on standby.

Thanks again! I now have a renewed sense of purpose and will tackle it again tomorrow!

Done! Took the plunge this afternoon and it probably only took 15 minutes to take the front bumper off. I just wiggled and pulled, as you suggested.

Repainted the kidneys black again. I'll try to take some good pics this weekend, and maybe even change my sig. ;)
