Tobacco Leather
After my '03 4.4 was just totaled....last week I ordered the 4.8 in Alpine White with Tobacco leather. After seeing a bunch of pictures online,it looks to be a sea of brown and now Im now a bit uneasy with my choice. I tried to change the interior to black but the dealer said it's too late b/c its due for delivery the second week of April.
What are people's thoughts on the Tobacco Interior...is it as brown as it looks in photos? Any tips on maybe trying to get it changed? |
It's definitely darker than it looks in the pictures. You should check to see if your dealer has an X5 or X3 on his lot with tobacco leather and see for yourself. I love it...

thanks for the quick in responses! would anyone have any pics of one in Alpine White w/ the Tobacco???

If you have good relation with dealer and you are not in rush, they can rebuild the car and sell the 1st one to some one else. I have done that in past.
|
I am of mixed feelings about the Tobacco. But one thing I can say, it is a rather unusual/complex color, with a slight touch of red in it, and the picture/photos cannot and do not replicate it well at all -- you won't know if you like it until you see it in real Life.

Just 2Cts from the back row of the Peanut Gallery, but I love
that combo! BR,mD http://www.bmwusa.com/Standard/Conte...modelcode=0862 |
I have the Tobacco Nappa leather interior on my new 08 x5. I love it. Looks like chocolate. I've received a number of compliments. Go to your dealer's lot. I'm sure you'll find that color on another car. In the past I've had the beige interior and also the grey, this is by far my favorite.

i hope the interior looks like the pics from the BMW website (the dark brown as it looks). the photos that people take of actual X5's look lighter.

I've attached a picture. Note: this is Nappa leather, the other option is Nevada leather which may look a little different.

These pictures seem to me, on my computer monitor, to give the most accurate color rendition i have seen, although in real life it appears darker. But it does give the sense of a slight touch of red in the brown, at least on my monitor.
http://www.xoutpost.com/x5-e70-forum/...port-pics.html I find the images on bmwusa to be darker, with too much black, as compared to when I saw Tobacco on a floor model at the dealship. |
I love it !!!

I have Alpine Whte / Tobacco and I have gone back and forth on it. At first I loved it and then I thought it was too much brown. The whole interior except the dash is brown including the carpet, the entire cargo area and the mats. I posted some pics here but the color in the pics is too light. The web site pics are closest. I would describe it as chocolate as much as tobacco which does denote more red. Some friends who get in like and tell us so and some don't say a word. After 3 full months I can say that I do really like it now. It is unique, it looks good all the time and cleans up nicely. I also think it looks good with the white exterior. If I needed new mats I would get black mats. Would I get the color again when in two years when my lease is up? Don't know.

I have black mats with my tobacco interior...breaks it up nicely.

Just wanted to thank everyone for their input on the tobacco interior. Over the weekend I picked up my alpine white 4.8 with the tobacco interior, sport package and 20" Y spoke wheels.....I love it. The color scheme looks great, and definately appears better in real life than it does in pictures. The new car looks great next to my space grey '07 335i with with sport package.
Thanks again! |
Get Saddle Brown instead.... check out the pics...
http://www.xoutpost.com/x5-e70-forum/...?highlight=KDD you get a black dash/carpets and doors instead of the brown as well |
I have to agree with MD your color combo is awesome I love the tobacco!
|
Unfortunately, pictures don't do justice to either color (Tobacco or Saddle Brown). I've got the Tobacco and am very happy with it, especially w/ the bamboo wood which is a nice transition between the black dash and brown leather.
In the pics, Saddle Brown looks like a pumkin orange color to me, but it must look better in person as many here seem very pleased with it. Best of luck w/ your color combo. FWIW, I wish I had the Alpine White exterior - much easier to keep clean, and cooler in the summer heat. |
congrats on the new X. I test drove a tobacco and wasn't really a fan, but all that matters is that you like it.

> you get a black dash/carpets and doors instead of the brown as well
Different stroke for different folks I guess. I like the saddle brown color, but personally do not like the large amount of black that goes with it. I guess I'm not too hot on "two toning" color schemes. |
I have White with tobacco. I am very happy with the combo. Not as hot as black in the sun. Still hides some dirt. Rich looking IMHO.

I have an 2009 35d Alpine White X5 with the Tobacco leather and Bamboo interior and I love it. I had wishfully built up an X5 on the website, but could not justify the cost of new. A few months later, I found a lease return at my local dealer with 29k miles with more upgrades than I could hope for. The Tobacco is a rare and wonderful interior color. I always get compliments when I offer to drive. -Chris D. |
Now to get the full brown of mocha nappa you pay an upgrade if want
the comfort seats. If go with dakota mocha you get black on the dash instead of brown underneath. Just wish the headliner was tobacco instead of Black. Why posted if got a 2014 it was going to cost 5K more because would have to go with mocha package and other features that are in higher priced packages now. Unless go with bmw individual don't even have a beige or champagne color want. |
