20" Style 214 Wheels

I live in the North East and ordered the 20" style 214 wheels with my 4.8. Any comments on how these will handle in snow? Can I get snow tires for these wheels, or do I need to get an additional set of wheels with the tires? Any suggestions?

I am thinking of not getting them because of their inability to handle snow. Search the forums and you will find that anyone who has tried has discovered they are like sleds on snow. Also, you will not find snow tyres in that size.

Must admit though, they look awesome!

The 20's turn into skiis in the cold, snow and ice! Even when the temperature gets cold the tires just do not perform. No grip and you will not be able to stop at a safe distance. The ABS will trigger very frequently.

The 214 wheels from the factory come with summer tires. As with any summer tire, they turn hard as a rock below ~40F degrees. You will need to either replace the Dunlops with all-season tires or get another set of smaller wheels (18 or 19) and get snow tires/all-season tires for use during the winter.

I'm going to upgrade to 128s and will be getting all-season tires for my 214s to use during the winter. I'm hoping that as the next winter season gets closer, there are going to be some 20" snow tire options, but I'm not holding my breath.

And yes, I do need help. :p If you look at my current sig, that's my M3 with 19" snow tires. ;)

Pls search this forum for more info on the 20' and 214 rims. Have been talked about 2x dozen times.
