Automatic entry/exit steering wheel

Is it just me that hates having to wait for the steering wheel to slowly adjust itself upon starting the car? I don't need it to go inside, and tilt up after I stop the engine, as I'm somewhat short and not fat at all.

Our 2007 750Li allows you to disable this feature via i-Drive (as did all our our Benzes who had this "fat person" setting.

Anyone know if I can stop it from going in/out and up/down upon starting and stopping the engine? It's so Lexus, and it really bugs me!

Thanks!

Yes, this setting can be changed via i-Drive

It doesn't really bother me too much in terms of wait but I'd also like it disabled... too much unnecessary work on the motors.

Just checked, no options in idrive for steering wheel except the steering wheel programmable buttons.

Really? Like the last post mentioned, and I've too tried so many times...cannot find it offered via i-Drive to disable!

If you've done it, or found it...please share!!!

It really annoys me, and I'm honestly waiting for it to break or get stuck 1/2 way.

I will look it up later today and reply

My apologies... I couldn't find the setting in i-Drive either. I was confused with the "Last Position - deactivate" setting which does not seem to control the steering wheel position.

i guess things just move slower on this side of the valley. wherever it is that i am going, i am relatively sure it will still be there when i arrive. 2.6 seconds of steering wheel adjustment aside.

Dang, "fat person setting" Wait till my wife hears this. Sorry, you're right, iDrive doesn't have a setting to disable it. Your problem is with the steering wheel retracting when parking, not with the steering wheel "forgetting" the memory setting when starting the car, right?

delhite 04-12-2008 12:28 PM

umm leave it as high as you can so it wont come down on ya ..u know when

Memory setting feature is great. I just don't need it to automatically tilt up/down, and retract/go forward upon every start and stop of the engine. Lexus does this to EVERY model, and I really hate it. Mercedes does it to most models too, but it is easily disabled, at the driver's wish. BMW allows you to disable it on the 7 and 6 Series, so it's odd that it's permanent on an SUV/truck!

Yeah, I think it is a "fat person" setting, and I'm sure old Knackers will like it too. I think the majority of X5 buyers are not that fat or old to need, or want this feature.

Also, as mentioned...the "2.6" seconds it takes is not the big deal, but it is just a matter of time before the mechanism goes out, or gets stuck!

One of my friends said that on his Lexus, the fuse for the automatic steering wheel went and it would not raise. He had to have the fuse replaced. I wonder if you could remove the fuse for this feature so the steering wheel doesn't automatically raise and lower.

On e53 this option can be dissabled by dealer in DIS, so i guess you can do the same with e70

there must be some way....use my wife's fob and the wheel adjusts everytime. my fob does not adjust it at all. this is the way we want it...she likes it to change everytime and i dont want it to move. I'll check to see what i did because it obviously is sought after by some on this post.
