my 1st post HID fogs with DIY
I have been searching around the forum but seems like I am the first one to install the HID fogs for the E70, and I will write a DIY along with my install progress. I bought the xtreme 6500K H11 conversion kit from kbcarstuff.com and Steve is a very helpful guy who answers some questions regarding how to fix the fault light code. Btw don't forget to use the coupon code: E90 when check out which will save you $25 plus a pair of failture fix resistor and nitrile dipped gloves
and here is the kithttp://img528.imageshack.us/img528/392/dsc05885ik5.jpg 1) Remover the cover under the fog light by pulling down the top of the silver trim and there should be 3 clips on top and 2 at the bottom. Remove the top first and then the bottom http://img443.imageshack.us/img443/3105/dsc05902xb4.jpghttp://img329.imageshack.us/img329/6725/dsc05901os2.jpg 2) Do the same on the other side 3) remove 4 black screws and 4 silver phillip screws under the bumper and 2 more black screws on each side of the fender liner(1 of them is quit hidden) http://img262.imageshack.us/img262/435/dsc05899oq7.jpghttp://img262.imageshack.us/img262/7158/dsc05900bs8.jpghttp://img443.imageshack.us/img443/6642/dsc05897dp6.jpg 4) Remove the 5 screw on top of the bumperhttp://img501.imageshack.us/img501/9618/dsc05898ko9.jpg 5) now you can start to pull the whole bumper off but remember the bumper also held by 2 clips on each side also don't forget to unplug the PDC sensor wire http://img150.imageshack.us/img150/175/dsc05887mw2.jpghttp://img411.imageshack.us/img411/650/dsc05888tw9.jpg 6) After the bumper is off then you can start wiring the harness http://img253.imageshack.us/img253/5160/dsc05886ah1.jpg Ballast http://img410.imageshack.us/img410/460/dsc05889fw0.jpg Relay http://img410.imageshack.us/img410/3069/dsc05891fm9.jpg failture fix resistor http://img444.imageshack.us/img444/9808/dsc05890mp2.jpg 7) Testing http://img338.imageshack.us/img338/7748/dsc05893da6.jpg http://img253.imageshack.us/img253/8614/dsc05894yx5.jpghttp://img253.imageshack.us/img253/9527/dsc05892gp9.jpg 8) check if there is any error code http://img259.imageshack.us/img259/8844/dsc05904yl4.jpg 9) make sure there is no error code before puting everythings back on and then you are all set http://img508.imageshack.us/img508/405/dsc05903pw5.jpghttp://img244.imageshack.us/img244/1323/dsc05906hm5.jpg Should my first thread be sticky:thumbup: |
Nice DIY!
Did you tap the power lead from the relay to the positive terminal in the engine bay? I assume you did, because you didn't mention going through the firewall to provide power for the relay. |
yep forget to mention power through battery positive terminal

Good job again!
I was considering taking photos and documenting it when I changed springs on Friday. But I didn't in the end, probably because I didn't think that there would be any interest in a DIY for suspension. But maybe I will the second time around when I replace the springs next week...... |
Good write up - good to see your in Toronto as well!!
