x5 vs x6
 

ive been told that the x6 v6 is faster on the road than the x5 v8...(0 to 100km).. i just want to ask if this is true or not??

Not so difficult as the X6 has Twin-Turbo V8...

I believe the X6 wieghts less than an X5, and also has more horsepower than an X5 (base engine to base engine and optional engine to optional engine), so I would expect the X6 to be faster than the X5.

This will answer your question:
X5 3.0si is 4982 lbs with 260 hp while X6 xDrive35i is 4894 lbs with 300 hp.
X5 4.8i is 5335 lbs with 350hp while X6 xDrive50i is 5269 lbs with 400 hp.

what if I tune up the ecu (re-maping) the x5 4.8 ......do you think it will still go faster??? vs the stock x6 v6?

As your engine don't have Turbo, it will only bring you a small hp increase and Torque. That is the problem with atmospherical engines. For X6 Twin turbo engines, or X5 Diesel engines, it brings you a very appreciable increase.
Buy a X6 5.0i ! ;)

I don't get it...what's the big deal if the X6 is faster or not? If you want fast get a sports car. :dunno:

Yeah. At the end of the day, they are two different cars for two different markets.

X6 is an easy choice for those who don't need as much ultility. Definitely don't need to transports more than 4 people. Want the front visibility of an SUV, while a drive similar to a car.

X5 is a the choice for those who need the extra ultility. Need to transport 5-7 people. And a very sporty (though not a car like drive) SUV.

I was told today that the UK X5 dealer allocation for the rest of the year has been halfed to facilitate production levels of the X6 in the Spartenburg plant.
