Looks terrific!
Is it a replica or OEM?
How much did the plastic flare trims cost? Thanks.

No noise, MUCH softer ride, handling about the same though it feels stickier at high speeds. People who reported noise were usually higher mileage. I work from home so don't put many miles on... I've done only 1k to the car since end of Jan. At this rate I'll only do 5k/year so maybe I'll never have to worry about it (not out there much to begin with). ;)

The biggest question mark about them, personally, will be snow performance as these are all-seasons and I didn't want to change out every year. Will just have to see in 8 more months.

kimg9582 04-25-2008 10:48 AM

On your last picture, I noticed it reads 349 miles at 9.4 MPG. That seems awefully low for a 3.0.

349 miles is the range left on the what's remaining of the gas (which was full). Those interior pics were taken on day 2 of ownership so the numbers were for local roads and it was brand new. Now at just over 1k miles, it's getting 15-16mpg avg, and trip computer says 17-18mpg when I use it on highways. No noticeable difference otherwise with the 20s/new tires.

makes sense.
btw, a beautiful color combo

I see you have active ride .. any noise from your front suspension yet ?

mtech8 04-25-2008 02:30 PM

Killer Ride! The 20" really do make a huge difference.

Your X5 was the first white one I saw with the aero kit. The stunning photos convinced me to order it for my X5 too!

Stupid question: What is active ride? same as active steering? At any rate, can't wait to hear what you think of it.

kimg9582 04-25-2008 02:49 PM

I think active ride is the air suspension

StanF18 04-25-2008 02:57 PM

Looks ssssssssmoking!

If I was a car thief, this is THE X5 I'd want to steal;)

- I've got to credit Dubai_86 as the first white/saddle brown/aero for inspiring this choice, personally. He has the style 128s but a few members followed with the 214s and that helped me as well.

- We don't have what you call "active ride" here, but if you mean the sport suspension, it wasn't extremely noticeable but I did notice the harshness of the bumps slightly between sport and non-sport activated (button near the shifter). I kept it on sport because well.. that's what this car is made for. But if it's off, the difference isn't huge.

What noise from the front suspension? Haven't heard of this happening.

Looks great  Love the X5 in white. Welcome to the 20" club.

Just wondered if you found where the vibration was coming from?? was it an out of round wheel or just a faulty balance job??

arias1516 04-25-2008 08:34 PM

very nice, your car looks hot,

Faulty balance... it was in the rears like you guys suggested since the steering wheel didn't vibrate. They re-did the weights on both rears and now it's 99% vibration-free at high speeds. I think the 1% is mental too. ;) Or normal. :D

Excellent and very worthy upgrade; I still love the white/brown combo.

wheelsandcaps.com who also sell on ebay for the same price after shipping. They're pretty good about any problems as well... I had an out-of-round wheel which was unfortunate (had to make 2 trips out to the tire shop) but they rectified it right away. It was $969 shipped.
