driver/passenger headrests don't move vertically?

Have the sport seats and the headrests are raised a couple inches but I realized yesterday they can't be adjusted up or down. The 2nd row headrests can, as they have an adjustable notch on one of the black rings at the base. How come the driver/passengers can't be adjusted vertically? Or am I missing something?

I assumed they were even completely removable but they won't budge up or down. Also thought it would be an easy replacement for headrest entertainment units in the future.

they're power.

I don't have sport seats, but if you press down/up the backseat shaped button, it controls the head rest. May work the same way with sport seats.

BTW, they are NOT removable at all. You can adjust them up or down, but can not remove. Why ? Because they have a mini-airbag built into them, which deploys in an event of being rear-ended.

So, if you were wondering if you could replace your headrest with another set with built-in DVD player, no, can not be done ! The moment you force-remove the headrests, the SRS warning will come on and you will be spending your precious time at the dealer (and probably will have to pay for it, too :))

Wow works as advertised. Power headrests - thought never even crossed my mind. ;) Thx.

Cool - I just had to go outside and try this! However, I have an excuse as I'm still waiting for the user manual pack for my (ex-dealer demo) car that I've had 3 weeks now.... On Back order and due this week (allegedly....)

Now wondering what other goodies I may discover once the book arrives...

If you get some time, you might want to read the Owner's Manual, as there is a lot of good information in it.

Nice delivery... though I've had plenty of questions not posted here because I did read the manual. Can't remember everything - must've skimmed right over it... never even crossed my mind this time that it might be in there - headrests requiring instructions. Evidently I was wrong. Once again, wow - power headrests.

It's easy to miss a few things reading the owner's manual. I guess it is the engineer in me, but I download the manual and read it a few times before I even pick-up a new car. I guess I just like reading such stuff.

I remember one person with a Z4 that REALLY didn't read the manual. He had owned his Z4 for two years and casually mentioned to me that he wished the steering wheel would telescope and not just tilt, as the position was uncomfortable for him. I informed him it does telescope and he argued with me quite strongly -- until we went to his Z4 and I showed him.

He drove his Z4 for two years with an uncomfortable steering wheel position because he didn't read the manual!

I've been used to power headrests for a few years since I was introduced to them on the S4

It really is a nice feature.
