Order Placed

Hello,

This is my obligatory "Hi I'm a noobie here!" post and just wanted to say thanks for a great forum resource. I've been reading through several posts and have found all sorts of interesting information regarding my new ride.
I'm particularily interested in electronic mods, current owner issues and how people are dealing/fixing them.

I just ordered a 4.8i and having difficulties containing my excitement while having to wait 1-1.5 months for delivery. ;)

I'm too lazy to post the options so here is a screenshot of the options:

See you around!

Looks like a great ride!

What is the BMW Base Support System I saw listed at the bottom?

bmwestcoast 04-28-2008 12:31 PM

Thanks. It's the base roof rack system for strapping junk down on your roof...I think. :p

Congrats! Did you consider the 20 inch wheels? I'm trying to decide on those myself.

Hi, I did considered the 20's then decided theres no need for those from a functional point of view considering I live in the Seattle and all (wet roads). Other than looks, I see no real reason to go with them. Mind you looks are never really a bad reason... :p

congrats from another seattle-ite!!

Argh! This is taking too long. 6+ weeks to make/ship...bleh.

In any event at least I got to see where my X5 was being made. I did the facotry tour in Spartanburg, SC while in Greenburg for training. The Zentrum "museum" was laughable (walked through it in 5 minutes) but the factory was pretty neat to see how just-in-time inventory works, robotics, painting, etc. I did get to see several completed X5's and kept staring at the larger tires/wheels (20s). Tempting but decided to stick with the 19s due to Seattles famous inclement weather.

Still looking at a mid-June delivery time. In the meantime, anyone interested in purchasing a 2004 H6 VDC Subaru Outback? :)

PS - Hello mellow_sparky (lol at the name, reminds me of my college daze/haze) :smokin:

Don't worry about the 19s, they look great in the flesh. IMO they're more unique than the 20 inchers.

Wow, an Outback to an X5 4.8i? Nice jump.

From a Canadian BMW dealership I visited, the salesguy said that I need to wait for 2 and a half to 3 months if I wanted something that wasn't on their lot.

Was he just full of it? Trying to get me to buy off their inventory or is it actually the case in Canada. I can't believe it takes upto 3 months when it takes half the time in the States.

I don't know if "being unique" makes them good or bad, but ENJOY
