Favorite Interior Trim w/black interior (poll)
 

Thanxs for all that responded to my previous poll on running boards.

I have another poll that I'd like to take. For the popularity of interior trim options with black interior.

In ths US, we are limited to only 3 trims: Bamboo, Walnut, Light Poplar.

However, I just found out that if one orders a car (as priority 1) then a 4th trim (Aluminum) is available at no additonal charge!

In the past few years, I've become very fond of almost any trim that is not the standard brown variation wood trim. (ie: the dark poplar available in the 335i coupe, black birdseye maple in some of MB's C and E class cars, aluminum, titanium, carbon leather, etc). I think it gives it a younger, sportier look. Wood trim was always the mark of luxury cars in the past and part of me wanted to stand out from the "older" generation. Plus the AC Schnitzer carbon silver interior trim (at $4000+) is very nice. Which the aluminum trim mildly resembes (of course without the carbon detail).

So aluminum should be the clear cut choice according to my reasoning. But since I didn't realize that it was an available option until today. I've been looking at a lot of pictures of the dark bamboo (variation of brown that is still very different from the walnut and poplar look). Its really grown on me. It does have a sense of youth yet elegance too.

What do you think? Which BMW interior trim is your favorite?

Aluminum for a nice sporty contrast in my opinion, but I've never seen it in person.

Yeah. That's what I was thinking too. I wonder if it's the same aluminum used in the 3 series. I remember driving a 3 series loaner that had alum trim. Can't remember what my impression of it was. Got to stop by a dealer again tonight. :)

aluminum does look nice, but it also looks somewhat cold.

mine has dark bamboo. it looks great, it's quite new and frankly aluminium is too cold for interiors like bmw's, which is already very geometrical and simple

my car has the dark burlnut wood... or w.e.

but i really wanna get either the black carbon fiber from hamman. or the silver carbon fiber from ac schnizter..

I had the light poplar on my E53 and now have the bamboo in the E70. The pictures of the bamboo do not do it justice. It is a sweet combination. :thumbup:

Yeah. The Hamann Black Carbon is sweet. Think it cost as much as AC though. A little deep for my pockets. I figure that money can buy me close to a years worth of gas.

The bamboo does look better in person (or at least in other pictures other than the ones I posted). With bright sunlight, it's a really nice pattern.

Aluminum too cold? I'm okay with that. Just concerned if it looks cheap! The material is gonna make a huge difference.

I also have the bamboo, although with the beige interior. It really gives it a polished, unique look. I say go for it.

IMO it depends on what the exterior color is. If you have a light exterior color go for the darker wood with the black interior. If you have a dark exterior/black interior go with the light poplar wood. I have a jet black/black interior on my e53 and the light wood is a nice contrast--if it was the dark wood would it be too depressing.
