 no kidding true  That's how I know. I got the little oil can thingy the other day but not since. The engine wasn't running at the time, I had the key on what used to be accessory with the radio on. I thought about it today and I went into idrive and although the oil service light said OK, when I went further into the menu I go a CAUTION - oil at minimum, add 1 quart. Why don't I get a warning every time I start the X?

Why in hell couldn't they just put one little dipstick on that dude?? I still think those engineers that pulled it are laughing at us.

Heard recently at the BMW service counter: "I paid so much money for my car and they did not even give a dipstick"

This is a common problem with the 650's....so I would guess the same for the E70. I just had mine topped off last Thursday. It wasn't at the quart level but I knew this was a known issue so I was watching....Phil

Same oil burning issue with the current M5 and the e39. Seems like a trend. Not having a dipstick would be really annoying.

R8DX5 04-28-2008 10:11 PM

yup, sounds about normal.

4.6is Ryder 04-28-2008 10:20 PM

The no dipstick is really not that bad. Who wants to look at dirty oil anyway. If you just want to look cool wiping your stick, I guess you'll suffer with the new technology:bustingup Phil
