New X5 - paintwork protection in UK?
Hello all.
I'm due to take delivery of my new X5 in May (3.0 SD M Sport in Sapphire Black with some toys http://www.x5drivers.co.uk/images/sm...icon_smile.gif - will post some pics when it arrives) I've had a number of black cars and (when clean) they look great, however they are always badly affected by stone chips to the front. I wonder if anyone has any suggestions or experiences on how to reduce the effect of stone chips (good wax's, or products such as Armourfend, Supaguard, Glare, etc etc)? Thanks for your thoughts! There is no chemical or wax that you can put on your car that is going to reduce or prevent paint chips. The only solutions are a clearbra product such as Clearbra,Ventureshield, 3M paint protector,Armourfend (U.K I guess) etc. or an acrylic hood deflector. IMO the clearbra products are the way to go. As far as waxes go there are two types Carnuaba and Sealers. Carnuaba which is a true wax has great reflectivity and generally does not last very long. Also, with wax you have to find a good Carnuaba enriched formula,Swissvax,Victoria Wax, Zymol Carbon wax, P21S, Pinnacle are good waxes. Sealer's such as Zaino, Jetseal, Duraglos CCP will give excellent shine and long durability but do require proper prep work to prepare the paint for sealing. It really come down to personal preference.

:iagree:
www.Xpel.com they use 3M film. Some get the entire hood covered and no noticeable lines. |
you could always use StickerCity.com if you are willing to buy the product and place it yourself, or take it to a boday shop to do it for you.

Thank you very much for your opinions guys, will ckeck out the options you've suggested!

Whilst it offers a great shine after the car has been washed, it will not protect you against stone chips. I don't believe you can avoid your X5 from picking up the occasional stone chip, I prefer to enjoy driving the car & admiring it's beauty rather than worry about keeping it in factory condition. If you decide to get Supaguard applied, you should be pushing the dealer to apply it at cost price not the £300+ they try and charge you. Look forward to seeing your pics  |
My M-Sport rear arches have chipped quite badly over 2500miles.
I am getting an SD M-Sport next week and i have ordered the paint protection kit for rear arches listed under accessories for X5 on BMW UK website. Will post pics when its on. http://www.bmw.co.uk/bmwuk/accessori...-bmwuk,00.html There is also a bumber protection kit listed |
