Is it just me or does anyone have interest in getting the a carbon fiber hood (whether it be from hamann of Lumma), or doin anything that is more towards the sporty side rather than the Luxurious side...

yee. thats what im saying.. anyone looking for this "racey" or "sporty" look

Do you mean more sporty looks or more sporty performance wise? Overall, I don't like the look aspect of it on the X and putting a carbon fiber hood on a 5,000+ pound X5 to increase performance is a waste of time and money IMO. What will it reduce overall weight? About 0.005%? Carbon fiber is a funny thing. It can look really nice and if done the wrong way can make a nice car look really cheap.
EDIT: Sorry, you cleared up what you meant by "sporty" as I was posting. |

Anyone know where I could buy the Lumma hood w/o the carbon fiber? I want it painted body color.

I have mine on order. 3 month turn around approx. Should be here next month.
Personally like the Hamaan bonnet more, especially the X5M Hamaan bonnet, but I've already ordered this. {I} prefer it over the stock one ... cause I live in "BMW CITY" and I'm sick of seeing cars that look like mine everywhere I go. Had I known so many damn BMWs were in S. florida, I would've gotten the Jag Xf or the Audi Q7 back in January 09 instead of this X5. So, for me, it doesn't have to have a "point" and it doesn't have to be liked by anyone, it's what I want and I know that I'll be happy with it. Plus, I already have all the other Lumma parts (front and rear eyelids, rear tailights, roof extention; window optics pkg, mirror optics assembly, front optics grill, mirror covers, roof railings (discontinued so had to settle for BMW flat roof railings), brake/gas pedals, floor mats, entrance door borders, etc. After the bonnet, the only thing that will be left is the actualy KIT. WHOOT!! ... I dont' think I'm getting the Lumma wheels now. I like the Hamaan X5M wheels more. |

I had ordered the X5 before moving here. It was nice in JANUARY of 09 cause the car was getting a lot of attn, and ppl asking what year it was. But by the time May rolled around, I started seeing more and more of them ... and didn't see many Audi Q7s or Jaguar XF's at all. When I drove to ATL it was SICK. Ppl were turning thier heads and breaking thier necks just to look. I only saw 1 (ONE) E70 X5 the whole time I was there. So, eventhough I've known about European modding (being British myself), I only just decided to actually mod my X5 with Lumma ... just because I want my car to look different in the crowd, not identical. Funny thing is, I'm starting to see other X5s with similar mods, including the blacked out taillights with the white strip (another European mod idea). My friend has seen a white ACS modded X5, and I've seen pictures of an ACS X6 in Miami (CEC Wheels does ACS), but I've not seen any truly modded X5s on the roads. UPDATE: Bonnet just arrived today - finally! Came with |
