Interior lighting question

1 Attachment(s)
Hello everyone... hope you're having a nice weekend. I have a question about the two small lights in the interior of my X5.

I've attached a picture I took with my iPhone (sorry for the sub-par quality and how dark it is... it was night time). But I notice that the right small orange light shines a lot brighter than the left small orange light.

In fact, even the opening on the right side seems wider. To the best of my recollection, this is the first time I've noticed and would like to ask you here if this is normal, or has something gone wrong with the bulb? Thanks in advance for your responses.

These lights are designed to be countersunk and positional. Take another picture from the opposite seat and see how that looks.

Thanks for the reply!

I will so I can post it here and show you guys... but I did sit in the other seat and clearly the right light still displays brighter than the left.

How I noticed it was that my wife and I were in the vehicle last night and we both put our hands in the center console while driving and noticed the orange light bemaing brightly on both our hands.... we thought that was odd.

the only thing i could think of is probably they were made like that so the driver wouldnt be disturbed by the light(if were to be too bright). but you should get it checked just in case...

I've been so busy that I haven't had time to take the second pic. But, hey yorencer (& anyone else with an X5) do your lights seem this way?

I just went and confirmed my driver side light is smaller (covered more) than the passenger side. Normal.

Thanks! It's funny the small things we notice :-) Well I do anyway... We must really like our cars.

By any chance was it dark enough where you were able to notice if it does shine brighter than the driver side?

Probably so that it is less distracting to the driver, i.e., I would expect the passenger side to be brighter and wider in scope than the driver's side, if the designer was trying to do the best job.

i have good news... the lights appear this way on my car too... they are the same bulb... but the right one is more covered than the left... the one on the right hand side like 3/4th covered while the one one the left is 1/4th covered(more or less)... so there is nothingwrong with your car.. .lol..

Thanks... now I don't know if you mis-typed, but on my X, it's actually the other way around. The right side is less covered than the left, thus the right side shines down the orange light brither.

Is that what you meant or is it flipped on yours?
