swapping out to larger speakers..

has anyone attempted to swap out the stock speakers to much larger ones?

i'm not talking about replacing the 3 inch door panel ones with better quality 3 inchers... (i've done that swap with Polk Audio and it sounds much better but...)

i compared my stock system even with the upgraded speakers against my wife's CR-V and her stock system blew it away...

I'm trying to keep the stock look...so a huge trunk box woofer doesn't work for me...

i'm thinking more along the lines of swapping out the door panel speakers to much larger diameter speakers...(like 6 or 7 inch) and then adding a shallow design 10 inch subwoofer in the trunk area behind one of the pop panels..(with the appropriate 2ch amp of course)

anyone done something similar?? any other ideas??

I'm not looking for a mostly bass street sounding system but a much higher, clearer, quality sound...

You should investigate BSW's Stage 1, (and soon Stage2) speaker upgrades, along with their X108 Stealth 10" sub...even tho the speakers are not larger than OEM, I was lookin' for the same thing, not the "Street Slammin' Boom" sound, just cleaner, fuller overall... did install myself, including creating a custom mount for the new sub amp that allows complete reversion back to stock, without any permanent mods, if I decide to sell my E53 later...SOUNDS awesome -MUCH improved ! Not a rep for BSW, (I know guys, I sound like Halston!! ) ~ just did alot of research before I made MY move !! Hope this helps, drod ...

BSW doesn't have a kit for the E70.. (which is why i'm asking..)

i believe they're working on it but it's been months in development.. and they say it's still a few months away...

is there anyone that has modified the door panels to accomodate larger speakers??

also, how did you go about adding a second amp...(like a 2ch amp) to the existing amp setup??

i'm looking to add 2 subwoofers in the rear but can't do this without adding a second amp..
