So you went to the driving experiance day's at Zolder circuit as well? I tried the Z4 with sequential shift and the 1 serie convertible to please the misses. I had a nice day and for once we had sun in Belgium.

I don't think so, factory tint is the glass itself that has a different color. Like sun glasses.

Indeed, I will have the car for 4 years and return it afterwards. I agree that perhaps the dealer can not do the job himself, but I have had a lot of windows changed before and never had problems afterwards.

My only concern is the quality of the tinting, if they want to do it correcly they need to take out the windows anyway. And from what I saw on other cars, the heating is the windows becomes really obvious when the black is behind and shows the brown lines on the windows. I also don't like the little bubbels. But on the other hand I can go for a darker shade :D

Anybody knows the original percentage of shading on the factory windows?

I'll try it again this week, but it does not feel like the car is hitting the brakes, the retarding is not that impressive.

Just go with an aftermarket tint with film. Its cheap and done professionally only takes about 2-3 hours.
I dont know about the prices down in belgium but up here in finland the cost is around 200-250€ including work and the film.
Most professionals use 3M film which lasts for a long long time if fitted well. the bubbles appear from cheap film or bad installation and should not appear if a professional handles your car.

so imo go with the film, its cheap and only takes 1 day to install.

Welcome to the board and congratulations with the new X5. Nice car and nice pics (and a nice P car by the way).

With regards to your window problem: very simple imo:

Since you lease the car, you ordered it with the tinted windows and paid for it I see 2 solutions:

a. Get BFS (= I suppose you lease it from BMW Financial Services) to adjust your lease rate and leave the rest as is.

b. Have the dealer install the OEM tinted windows free of charge. This is perfectly possible, will look like the real thing and you won't have any problems when you return the car once the lease is finished.

Personally I would go for option b) since it will give the car a much nicer and sportier look. If you decide to have the original windows sprayed or treated with a folio I would suggest that you get written approval from the lessor first as this will eliminate problems at lease return.

On a final note: I don't think that the debate should be "how the dealer can fix this the cheapest way" but what can the dealer do to give you what you are entitled to get (since you paid for it).

The experience days were fantastic! I took a DSC-course with the 1-series; just unbelievable how unpredictable a car reacts when you do a wrong manoeuvre.

I did not race the circuit; the were too many in front of me ...:mad:. The red 135i sounded awsome!
But the weather was just great, almost like today.
