lemans,

yes it is a handsome amount when one US dollar is equivalent to 40 indian rupees. hence, 175k is about 7.2 million rupees, or 72 "lakhs" for short (one lakh = 100,000 rupees)

i have my own nightclub, restaurant. i also am into retail and manufacturing of furniture. real estate speculation is also a hobby and no market is better than delhi!

i only wish i owned a car when I was in university in america. i didn't bother getting one because of all the hassles.

imported cars, like the x5, are getting a lot more common here. people have more disposable income and want to splurge on the latest exotics.

till date i have seen an enzo (which is for about 600/700 lakhs = 1.5 million usd - 1.75 million), numerous gallardos (450k), bentleys ( 500k ish), 7ers/s class ( 200k - 300k), a few range rovers (250k), f430 (600k).....basically we pay 112% import duty plus a whole load of other crap which makes these cars frightfully expensive to own and run....and after paying all that, you would think we can drive here! no! our roads are crap personified! pot holes and all. cows, rickshaws, cyclists etc..

i wish the indian government reduced the import duties...i love cars and want to buy some sports cars!

Nice! So do you have any owners exotic car meets or car show like we have in US? Would like to see pics of exotics in that part of world.

Wow everything is going up nowadays. RV's have decreased while the MF's have increased. I wonder if this has anything to do with the US dollar losing value.

A dealer I went to said the price increase was effective since May 9th in new orders...is that true? So I'll have to pay the $550 extra. I am in CA...the last paragraph of the bulletin mentions May 9th for price protection...but I don't get it...isn't the increase effective since June 1st...it does not take BMW 2 weeks to get that car in production...can someone explain?

Thanks.
