The only problem with using the SATNAV drive of course is the inability to use the SATNAV features while you play the MP3 DVD.

I'm curious to know how you controlled the tracks while the DVD played in the SATNAV. Also which "mode" did you select to hear the music. (i.e. FM/AM plays the radio, CD plays the CD Player, Aux plays whatever is connected to the Aux input.) What "mode" plays the MP3s while the DVD is in the SATNAV?

Well the interesting thing is that I just put it in and it chose the mode for me. I neglected to check and see what mode it was in. As far as control is concerned, it was exactly the same controls as when you place a CD in the CD drive (IDRIVE with Root etc.) Hope this helps

My guess would be the same for watching DVD movies on the Nav screen(have to be in park).

In which from my best guess, while not sitting in the truck at this very moment, is DVD. My changer shows up as DVD1(or CD1)...DVD2...etc....

Thanks. Just one more question. To control the MP3 tracks while the DVD is in the SATNAV, do you choose NAVIGATION or ENTERTAINMENT from the iDrive menu?

A new "DVD" tab appears in the entertainment section.

I would assume that the DVD options refers to the rear entertainment option which he stated that he had in his vehicle. I'm still try to understand how the SATNAV computer plays MP3s.

No, I don't have the Rear entertainment and it still works for me. It just treats the Mp3 tracks as data and decodes them. Trust me it works, who really cares why. Before anyone asks, no it does not play DVD movies.

Just a quick add to this thread. I too was curious about a few things so I loaded some music on a 4GB Lexar jump drive to see how it would work:thumbup: ....I must say I was surprised. It work exactly like an iPod. All the features were the same except for playlist. But since I created folders, it ended up being the same thing. You can still browse by genre, album, artist and etc. This great news will keep me from buying another iPod for the house....Phil

Great information, I was actually thinking about testing something similar and use an external hard drive powered through the armrest socket to see if it would work. If it did this would mean that I could store 100's of thousands of tracks and never have to use a CD again. I would have a massive data base to work from. The second thing that I would like to test is if I can veiw pictures stored on the USB stick through the front screen/monitor.
