"Adaptive Drive and Rear Air Suspension" Make a difference? What about Comfort Seats?
 

Can you actually feel the benefit of the Adaptive Drive and Rear Air suspension?

I'm wondering if they really do increase the comfort and cornering abilities. Because I read someone's comment that Adaptive Drive feels almost same as the standard suspension.

And what's the "Self-leveling Rear Air Suspension" for? Is it purely for comfort?

And one more question. About Comfort Seats... are they softer than the standard seats? Is that why they are called Comfort Seats?

I'll have to test the car with the adaptive drive off on this one on-ramp I take at a decent speed. It's got hardly any bank and it's a 270-degree loop onto a highway. With my other SUV, I have to slow down or I'd feel like I'm about to flip. With the X, no brakes necessary - there is hardly any body roll even though I feel the g-force sideways (sport seats come in handy) - it's a fantastic difference. I'll have to turn off the sport mode and see how that loop feels next time. I'd have to say though that on normal everyday driving challenges, I couldn't really tell a difference with it on or off.

As for self-leveling... I believe you only have it if you have 3rd row seats. Don't know too much about it nor care to, myself.

Comfort seats are way more adjustable and are definitely softer. But if you have the sport package, you're paying $1k to get the comforts and nothing back for the sport seats that are replaced.

I read a lot of forums and the most common response is that the comfort seats are "the more comfortable seats ever and definitely worth it".

Personally haven't spent enough time in them to comment of my own experience. But did notice that they typically are easier to get in and out of. This is due to the side bolsters not sticking out as far as the sports seats. (Hehe, but then you can just go for standard seats if you feel that is a problem).

For what I know, comfort seats add a lot more adjustability. Thus allowing you to really conform them to your body the way you feel is best.

You cannot turn off the adaptive drive it is always working. Turning sport off just gives a softer ride. Adaptive drive is great in my opinion.

As I know, BMW does have rear air suspension on the X5 (which is a good thing).

Adaptive drive is brilliant though. I'd get it.

Well I guess that would make sense, as there's no situation I'd actually want something like that turned off anyway.

I hate using the term must have option but I think adaptive drive fits the bill.

It's like driving a rocket on a magic carpet. No body roll, soft when needed. Brilliant.

The Comfort Seats are an absolute must in my mind...they are not only more comfortable but are also sportier thanks to the adjustable bolsters. They have more padding but the most importand thing for comfort is the split back rest so that the upper half of your back has support and the headrest sits right behind your head. Also the headrest looks A LOT better than the one on the sports seats.

both adaptive drive and comfort seats are my favorite options...must have imo
