problems with 2008 X5

Just bought a new X5 two weeks ago. I noticed that the display screen flashed when first starting up and within a couple of days the engine light came on. The dealer says that the engine light is caused by a sticky flap associated with the gas fume vent but now they're saying they may have to replace to entire windshield to correct the flashing display screen, due to faulty light sensors built into it.
Anyone have any knowledge of these issues? I'm really disgusted with this new car experience so far.

I had a check engine sensor light come on several times in my experience as well (I have had the car for 6 months) In all, a total of 3 sensors were replaced over a couple of months. these included a crankshaft and an intake sensor. The car could still be driven, but it was unsettling for some time. I guess better for a sensor than a mechanical part to go bad. It has been fine for over a month now.

Way to go BMW! This is my 2nd E70, and I am not entirely thrilled with this car. Our 2 E53 X5s were SO amazing, and I think BMW kinda f---ed up with the E70. Great new engines, great new looks, great safety as always...but too much, and very, very poor electronics!!

I've had mine since Feb 08, and crossing my fingers, no issues so far. Just hoping for gas mileage to improve.

It will, as soon as you get the diesel. :)
