2008 X5 w/ 850 miles - Alarm goes off randomly

I just bought the car and it only has 850 miles. Yesterday afternoon, the alarm went off 3 times while the car was parked and locked at the driveway. I couldn't figure out why. I have a sunshade for the dashboard so maybe that moved and it trigerred the alarm...? I hope it is not a bad sensor...

In the E53's, the hood sensor would sometimes be faulty causing this problem.

^^ Yeah, I did some search and i found a couple threads with the same info. Is it diffucult to be replaced (if it is that) on the E70?

I have an '08 and my alarm has gone off a few times seemingly without cause when I'm at work. I assumed it was the vibration from a truck driving by too quickly :dunno:

^^ I thought for a minute it might be a fly or other insect inside the car and it triggers it. My neighborhood tho is quite and yesterday it was a sunny day, not even wind blowing... Does the alarm stops after some time?

The alarm will reset and mine goes off at work so often I now turn it off.
The dealer said it was various sensors so not one all the time. I do work where heavy trucks go in and out but it is very sensitive it seems. So much so I just turn it off at work but leave it on at other times. The dealer can check the codes next tiem you are in.

Does anyone know if the alarm will stop after a period of time by itself?

Mine has been going off when it's HOT outside. Otherwise, I haven't been able to figure out why it goes off!

On the E70 FOB, when exiting the vehicle, hitting the "Lock Button" once will keep the motion sensor online but hitting the "Lock Button" again will disable the motion sensor.
