New X5 with 22" wheels

5 Attachment(s)
Got the X5 last month and traded in the original 18" with 22" right away...the ride is very smooth. Added the dark film for back and side windows and the rear lamps - it looks meaner.
My next projects - debadge and aluminium pedals.

Nice! Like what you did to tail lights.
What brand wheels are those?
Whats the black frame on rear glass?

X5audi 06-01-2008 01:40 AM

You're going to need to black out the grille and tint the windows to complete the look

very nice! i like the smoked tail lights better

Beefy 06-01-2008 04:06 AM

awesome!

x5mad 06-01-2008 07:15 AM

awesome!

Are you running 285 all round? as recommended for 22 would be a staggered approach... to do with rolling diameters and speedo calibration.

I have same colour and looking at 20s aftermarkets and was told i needed staggered.

Actually, if anything, you don't want a staggered setup because of the difficulty in finding staggered tires with identical outer diameters. The factory 20" and 21" setups run staggered tires, but with identical outer diameters.

It is very important to have them the same diameter front and rear, because of the ABS sensors and the differentials. Running different sized fronts and rears would be disasterous and potentially dangerous.

LeMans, the wheels are Concept One, think they are only available in Asia. Didn't do anything with the rear windows, the frame comes with the car.

yes all four are 285, no staggered. I think HaroldC is right you have to have the same diameters for all fours otherwise your sensor may not work properly...

engkonglu 06-03-2008 09:48 AM

this is very nice.... unfortunately we have less wheels choice is asia esp for 22".

One of the best looking X5's in my opinion, great upgrades sir! What kind of wheels/tires? How did it affect your drive?

rh71 06-07-2008 11:22 PM

Agreed - one of the best looking black X5s here. Done in good taste.

yorencer 06-08-2008 01:55 PM

i love the X... but i think you should of left the white line in the rear tail lights exposed.. (like only tinting the red)

That's how I did my taillights... but didn't tint the red as dark as engkonglu.

The wheels are made in taiwan and the tyres are michelin. I don't feel much different, in fact I think they are much more stable than the original wheels/tyres.

williamhmlui 07-06-2008 08:08 AM

Hi engkonglu,

I am from Hong Kong. I have ordered and should have the delivery by next month. Meanwhile, I am considering to upgrade the wheel, how much cost your 22" wheels and tyres.
And any consideration regarding to the Tire Pressue Sensor (TPM) - I don't know have hong kong version got FTM (Flat Tire Monitor) or TPM (Tire Pressure Sensor) with electronic inside the wheel.

dbinc 07-06-2008 05:49 PM

Hey engkonglu,

Nice wheels, would you happen to know the offset of your wheels?

Thank you in advance.

Hey, what was the wheel size and offsets? are they all 22x9.5???
Did you use wheel spacers for the rear ones? If so, How thick were your spacers?
Thanks!!!
